I was stoked to see Jason Bateman and Natalie Portman win.

they are still on though, so more later..

I was TOTALLY stoked to see Ian MacShane win!!!

I <3 Deadwood!!!

Also, how honest was Teri Hatcher? That was, perhaps, the most honest and real acceptance speech I've heard in a long time...

Makes me wished I had watched the Life and TImes of Peter Sellers - if I only knew it was on.

I only "get" about 1/4 of this show - the films I have seen or know about. But, clothes are always run to look at.

Juliana Margolies looked great!

Oh, I heard it was sooo good! (Life and Times of Peter Sellers). Again, another movie I was too lame to see.

I was stoked to see Jason Bateman and Natalie Portman win.

Ditto.

Any Sideways wins are good. Cool movie. It'll be one I buy.

Hehe, I cheered for William Shatner. William Shatner. :D Love his character on Boston Legal. Freaking love him. I've long loved to hate Shatner, but I looove Denny Crane.

I got choked up when Mariska Hargitay won....I've seen her dad accompany her on so many occasions, so when I saw him cry, I lost it. My husband laughed at me. I've always had a thing about Jayne Mansfield, so Mariska's been a favorite of mine since she was on ER. :o I'm a dork.

Go Housewives!!! Yay!! :) Go Hilary!! You goddess!!

Men I want to lick:

Tim Robbins (he got hot again....it's those damn dimples)
Javier Bardem (it's the style mullet, and the eyes)
Clive Owen (the eyes)
Marc Forster (the beautiful bald head)
Orlando Bloom (I haven't been attracted to him, ever, except in a Gap ad once, so this is tonight's biggest upset, to me)
Don Cheadle (I just want him)

Good Hair:

Wil Ferrell (who knew that mop didn't always have to be so pubish?)
Hilary Swank (LOVE her ponytail....classic)
Angelica Huston (gorgeous!)
Teri Hatcher (pageant hair RULES)
Felicity Huffman (gorgeous softness, slightly big!)
Renee Zellwegger (she shouldn't ever be blonde again...the dark makes her look not so washed out)

Bad Hair:

Robert Redford (who are you kidding, sir? Let it go grey already.)
Adam Duritz (soooo Kid n Play....cut that mop off)
Ron Howard (shave it, dude)

Dresses:

I don't like Halle Berry's....makes her boobs look lopsided.

Teri Hatcher's is complicated and gorgeous. I usually like simple.

Virginia Madsen....too simple? I don't know.

Natalie Portman looked like a 12 year old boy. Where are her boobies? But I liked her dress.

Didn't dig the front of Nicole Kidman's dress (the feather), but the back...wow.

Cate Blanchett looked like she belongs on the Lawrence Welk show....so of course I dug the dress. Beautiful and ladylike.

Mary Louise Parker and Scarlett Johansen somehow achieved cameltoes in their dresses. That doesn't seem right. But the dresses were incredible!

Laura Linney....vavavoom, baby! I like her in smoky eyes!

Eva Longoria borrowed my Homecoming dress from 1990 without asking!

Hilary Swank....oh my. SOOO incredibly gorgeously beautifully wonderful. I always feel bad for her husband....somehow Chad Lowe gets ickier every year and Hilary just gets hotter.

Jennifer Garner looks good in red.

Felicity Huffman in gold.....oh so pretty. She and her husband are awesome.

Juliana Margolies looked great!

The Life and Times was, in my opinion, a pretty mess of ****. It was just very choppy and unfocused. However, Rush was - as always - incredible.

Charlize Theron got my vote for best dress. I loved the blue, the length, the corseted center. Just lovely, lovely. Kidman's was similarly lovely.

There was an alarming amount of plastic surgery victims visible in this award's show this year. And many of them seemed to be cast in the same series: Desperate Housewives.

Also, Patricia Arquette, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE? Something. Something awful.

But, I liked Portman's 1920's boyish dress. And, Claire, she HAS almost no boobs. What's a girl supposed to do?! I liked her simple acceptance speech.

Best dress I already mentioned, but best suit? I know I go on about him already, but that Butler can dress.

http://us.news1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/rids/20050117/i/r2714205050.jpg

I also dug Swank's simply pony. And Scarlett's shimmery locks.

Clint Eastwood, you my granddaddy!

She is a little too committed to those bangs. I used to love that she wasn't conventionally beautiful. She's had something done, but I can't figure it out. Maybe she had her teeth fixed. Perhaps it's that simple. They were some messed up teeth.....

I don't think the Desperate Housewives have had work done. Yet.

Orlando Bloom DID look stunning! I just wish he wasn't so smallish. But, boy, is he a beautiful man.

Scarlett Johanson was so beautiful! She outshone Ewan when they were presenting. Her dress, her hair, that beautiful lipstick color - classic beauty....perfection.

I also liked Nichole Kidman's dress. That teal charmeuse was stunning, and I even liked the feathers. Her hair was just a bit too blah IMHO.

I loved all of the brown charmeuse dresses - Hillary Swank was beautiful and Kate Hudson's dress was beautiful as well.

Angelica Huston is just a stunning woman. Such presence!

Rene Zelwelliger was with her creepy mentor freakey guy again. Creeps me out!

Nice to see Johnny and Liam - my two favorite choices for awards. And, they're both yummy to look at.

Kate Winslett has got to be one of the most beautiful, stunning, poised women in Hollywood today. I was not a fan during Titanic, but now, she's incredible! She just seems to have it all and be REAL at the same time.

Yes, P.A. I know even I would feel gargantuian in bright orange, but add that hair, with too much visible product in it and.......Yeoch!

The Desparate Designing Housewife Women all seemed pretty plastic - even the under 40 one. But, I don't "get" that show, having never watched it. I'd probably love it and never get off the couch. ;)

Upon reflection, Liam was my BIG SWOON of the night. Ahhhhhhhh yummmm.

Amen! She was the only worthwhile thing in Titanic. I've had a big girl crush on her since I first saw her in Heavenly Creatures. My husband doesn't love her....never has. I think she's amazing looking.

Scarlet Johansen didn't get the reception in the room that I thought she would. No one looked happy to see her. It was weird. I love that she went with a red lipstick tonight. She's been going more natural lately, but I love her in big makeup.

I believe Nicolette Sheridan when she said she didn't have work done. I thought she did when I first saw her on DH. I was shocked by her appearance...but she's also a lot older (ten-twelve years, at least) and a lot thinner than her Knots Landing days.

I've never thought Teri Hatcher was all that pretty....always thought her mannish and annoying. But I love her DH character and her wrinkles and imperfections look real to me.

I'm cracking up right now. I'm so passionate about my Housewives. :D

As usual, I was clueless as to who most of these people were, but I have to say there were a few women who might make me lie about my marital status:
Charlize theron - much more attractive with dark hair
Julianne Margolis - Looking like a 1940's starlet
Scarlet Johansen - Simply stunning with hair and gown, I loved the retro-swank look

I was just thinking that I forgot to mention Annette Benning! She just captivates me. Her smile is incredibly warm and genuine.

I like the short hair as much as I like any short hair (which is eh - even if I have it myself now). But, she just always makes me feel like I could be friends with her.

Robin Williams kids - all 3 are beautiful! Dark, dark hair on 2 and another good-looking older son. WOW! And, neither of them are terribly attractive - in the classic sense at least.

Aw, thanks, Rena! I heart you, too! :smooch:

My husband hated that movie....I remember we were juuuust married and it came out on video pretty quickly. I was used to seeing quirky little movies with my quirky little friends, so I thought I'd introduce him to the types of movies I liked. I paired it with Muriel's Wedding. He hated both movies, and since that evening, he doesn't like Kate W., Toni Collette, and Rachel Griffiths!!! :D I ruined them for him forever. Oh well!

(He loooooves Titanic, though. Came up with Cassidy's middle name--Rose--right after seeing the movie for the first time while I was pregnant with her, so he can't dislike Kate W. that much.)

I read this this morning and it cracked me up:

Least Surprised Winner: Annette Bening, who coolly raised her champagne glass in toast when she heard her name called as Best Actress for "Being Julia (http://movies.msn.com/movies/movie.aspx?m=549829)." After accepting a chaste kiss on each cheek from husband Warren Beatty (http://movies.msn.com/celebs/celeb.aspx?c=289194), a man who once made generations of women swoon, she proceeded monotonously to rattle off a list of names that meant little to us. Annette, you're getting praised for your work in front of millions of people -- can't you feign some surprise and excitement or spare a little sugar for your sweetie? And while we're still not sure what she was referring to when she thanked Beatty for lunch at the "pizza joint," if her form-fitting dress is any indication, she didn't down anything with carbs.

When I saw Annette's win, I first thought she could at least try to feign a little excitement, but then I noticed she looked close to tears a few times. I think she was just trying to be poised, regal, classy, whatever. She was acting. The cheek/cheek kiss she shared with Warren was a bit disturbing- struck me as odd, considering they are married and have four children.

The kisskiss was weird and formal! I told my husband...let's not do that when we get old. :D He was weirded out by her little speech. It was just so stiff and rehearsed. My husband said, "Oh my gosh....she's just memorized some lines--she's a robot!"

And I love her....think she's the coolest. It's just that last night she was giving off vibes that something was not...right.

I watched what I could of this show last night~had the pre-show on E! for a while. What was with Star Jones' laugh? Oh my gawd, when she asked Kevin Kline why he was still robbing the cradle with Phoebe Cates! She should have said something a bit more to the effect how Phoebe still looks as she did 20 years ago.

I missed Kate Winslet. I, too, think she is beautiful. I want her hair and her lovely skin.

Yes, Charlize looks just like that character from MTV! I wonder if she can move like her? Is that photo from a movie of the anime?

My big happy surprise was when Leonardo DiCaprio won. I was disappointed that it was so quiet. Was everyone trying to listen to him speak or was everyone against his win? I know he has gotten a lot of grief for being a heart throb but, to me, he is a very talented actor. He has been in quite a few movies where was amazing. 'What's Eating Gilbert Grape?' , 'This Boys Life', and, I even loved him in 'Titanic'. I think he is a cool young dude and the things he does show he has real character. Nice that his parents were there, too.

Scarlett Johansen was stunning.

Halle Berry, didn't she look in the mirror? Didn't it feel uncomfortable?

Nicole~ looked tired.

Natalie Portman~looked rosy cheeked and excited. Was Meryl Streeps comment a joke?

I agree, Lisa Marie Presley needed to crack a smile.

Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp~ my ice cream sundae. Thank you.

Um, something not being right with Annette Benning? Well, she is married as well as the fact that she is married to Warren Beaty. Couples have tiffs.

How about Hillary Swanks' comment? 'Did I forget anyone? Kidding!!' How did you guys take the look on her husbands' face???

When she won her Oscar for Boys Don't Cry, she thanked everyone under the sun....but not her husband. She got a lot of grief over it and it was a joke for a while. I think the look on his face was saying, "My brother is Rob Lowe and my wife is a hottie. How did I get so lucky when I'm such a shrub?" :D

Meryl Streep! I really thought it was hilarious what she did....very funny moment. :) I would have loved to see Natalie Portman's face. And then when Glenn Close asked Meryl if it was okay if she won. Cute.

So I just looked at some pix and I have to say
Eva Longoria-what was she thinking? Gabrielle has one of the best wardrobe's on tv & this is what she picks?? Claire you are so right on the $ w/the prom comment
Teri Hatcher-I loved this dress, complicated but sooo pretty
Natalie Portman-didn't care for that one at all
Felicity Huffman-soooooo pretty!!
Charlize Theron-I think the dress is gorgeous, LOVE that color, the hair eh
Renee' Zellweger-I really dug the dress & shoes
Scarlett Johansson-The dress was okay, but I LOVED her hair & makeup, old glamour
Nicole Kidman-I liked the color & cut of the dress, the hair not so much
Halle Berry-um ick
Debra Messing-love the color of the dress, but the cut didn't look flattering from the pix I saw
Kate Hudson-Love love love the dress! She looked so pretty
Hilary Swank-see Kate Hudson :p

Johnny Depp, yummy as always
Orlando Bloom, soo not an Orlando fan, but I must say he looked QUITE tasty!

A few thoughts...

Star Jones-Reynolds drives me nuts at these things!

One of the other E! presenters had a really pretty dress - L'Huillier, I think. It was gorgeous.

Claire Danes looked nice. Her hair looks good long.

Hillary Swank looked amazing - great dress!

I'm convinced Teri Hatcher has had some work done. Didn't much look like it last night, but I've seen a few photos that would suggest it...:D Nice dress and hair though.

Jennifer Garner always looks good, but her hair could have been better, imho.

Charlize looked great - much better when she's not orange:D

Mmmmmmm....Johnny Depp:)

Kate Winslet just looks fabulous.

I was chiefly surprised by the "Closer" supporting wins. Though I called the Portman win after Owen won.

I also had swapped director and film. I was sure Million Dollar Baby would take film and Aviator would take director... there's been all kinds of buzz about Scorsese winning his first Oscar, and I thought M$B to be a far better film. I wouldn't rule out a split that way for the Academy, though.

Totally expected, but I was glad to see wins for Foxx and Sideways.

Huh, I wasn't that surprised by Owen's and Portman's wins. And I never really get a Director win going one way, and the Best Picture win going another. Feels incongruous to me.

Saw Million Dollar Baby with my parents. It was a very well made movie, but much like Mystic River, I think I let the hype get my hopes up too high. I wasn't amazed by it, though Swank gave another incredible performance, and I agree with her that Eastwood gave the performance of his career. I love what he can do with actors, but over all, I still prefer my affinity for Eteranl Sunshine over Eastwood's effort.

I saw her at a comic con about a year ago while her boyfriend was doing press for The Punisher, and she looked AMAZING. So, so pretty with her narrow face and crinkly eyes. I really do think she's done something, but maybe it's just a little weight gain. I don't know. A year certianly seemed to have evidenced some odd changes though.
