School Expels Girl for Having Gay Parents
Sep 23 7:05 AM US/Eastern
ONTARIO, Calif.
A 14-year-old student was expelled from a Christian school because her parents are lesbians, the school's superintendent said in a letter.
Shay Clark was expelled from Ontario Christian School on Thursday.
"Your family does not meet the policies of admission," Superintendent Leonard Stob wrote to Tina Clark, the girl's biological mother.
Stob wrote that school policy requires that at least one parent may not engage in practices "immoral or inconsistent with a positive Christian life style, such as cohabitating without marriage or in a homosexual relationship," The Los Angeles Times reported in Friday's edition.
Stob could not be reached for comment by the newspaper. Shay and her parents said they won't fight the ruling.
School administrators learned of the parents' relationship this week after Shay was reprimanded for talking to the crowd during a football game, Tina Clark said.
Clark and her partner have been together 22 years and have two other daughters, ages 9 and 19.

Jeez... why don't they kick out all the children of unmarried parents while they're at it? Apparently the sins of the father (or mother, in this case)....

This BS is what drove me away from the Christian Church. Not from God, mind you. I can have a really great spiritual relationship with God without these kind of Bozos telling me what to do.
BTW, I went to the Christian High School for a year. I was basicially kicked out because I listened to Punk Rock in my car on my way to school.

I'm sorry, I find this attitude terribly sad. Everyone is made in God's image, regardless of orientation. To expel a child for something so blatantly-biggoted makes my blood boil. Heck, I know more gay couples who have better "marriages" than many hetero couples I have known.
Please do not think I am generalizing, but I have never in my life seen a collective group more judgemental. The woman sitting next to my little cubicle of paradise here is a prime example of this kind of attitude.
Forgive me, but this really hit a nerve.

Anti-Christian Act by Christians No. 170,786,456,675,897,654,897.
I don't think you can be Christian and Christian.
What a bad name they have always given themselves! When are Jesus-inspired, good-hearted, loving Christians going to realize that they need to branch off and change the name of their bedrock faith to something that hasn't been so sullied through the ages with the most un-Christian of acts?

What a great opportunity for other churches/religions out there to denounce what was done to that girl. What a great moment for another private religious school to take her in w/o caring about her moms.
BUT I have a feeling we won't be hearing that...

Are all sins equal or aren't they? Are other families examined to make sure that they are not providing a sinful environment? Are children in abusive families expelled? Are children whose parents are lazy expelled? What about children whose parents give new meaning to the term "conspicuous consumption"? Do they quiz parents to make sure they don't use artificial means of birth control? If the school feels the remaining students come from superior homes, perhaps the school could use a reminder that pride is also a sin.

Sounds like they would if cohabitation is against policy. It also seems to say that she was already attending. THey didnt tell her this upon admission.

I mean bastards. Me, for example. My parents didn't marry till I was almost 5. So I'm a bastard. Now, if it were me at that school, at that age, my parents would have been married, so they wouldn't be living in sin currently, but hey, I'd still be a bastard.

You need to include a Jr. High as my daughter will be in 7th grade next year. Come on. It'll be fun. :)

Hmm... I wonder how that'd be received. It'd probably raise some eyebrows and get some publicity, which would be a great chance for you to share what you're about...

I stay loyal to the core of Christianity but that's about it. I notice when gone into detail there are contradictions & hypocricies and dogmas that make no sense which usually lead to poor behavior by 'pancakes lovers' alike. I definitely believe in God & Jesus but I don't think they'll send me to hell for french kissing. Know what I mean ?

I saw this story earlier and thought about linking it to the thread where we were debating the plausibility of the Faith Base Inititiative. This is exactly why it would never work.

Even if you believe Homosexuality is a sin, God Tells us to "Hate the Sin, Not the Sinner"
These A-holes take it 2 steps further, hating the sinner, the sinners, and the sinners children.... How very "Christian" of them.
Some just Love throwing that first stone....

Ya know I wonder how America as a whole would react if they studied the bible a little bit harder and discovered that according to the good book as Christians you're supposed to control your weight. Somehow I guess we overlooked that portion

My aunt goes to a really great church in Costa Mesa. I should try to get the name of it. Each week they sing songs (from the Beetles, Stevie Wonder, Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, The Byrds... Probably others stuff I just didn't notice, but generally good stuff about, life and love...)

I have no doubt that he'd be hanging out with bikers and whores, because he was (is) all about people being real. No high and mighty pharisee crap. However, he'd probably expect illegal and/or harmful things to stop - like the prostitutes to quit prostituting themselves.
I think it was Jesus who said "The physician does not come to treat those who are well, but the sick." He was (is) all about helping people in a real way and meeting their needs. He was also, though, about turning your back on sinful behavior, and if you weren't willing to do that, then he really didn't want to waste time with you. (disclaimer - please do not interpret this to mean that I am regarding homosexual behavior as sinful - this is not the point of what I'm writing.)
Jesus was accepting of all. But he also expected a lot. The religious leaders of the day didn't cut it then, so why would we expect the religious leaders of today to be any more acceptable? I have no doubt that a lot are, but I can see plenty of pharisees as well. I happen to go to a great church where I believe the pastors are real people. I've been to some where I didn't think that for a minute.

and He would tell them to go forth and sin no more-
Sometimes I suspect people think Jesus would hang with these people as if He would be giving a thumbs up to their behavior (not bikers- but certainly whores) and that is just ridiculous.
Did anyone see the follow up articles to the issue from the OP? I can go find the links....
