You'll need a calculator. Well, you probably don't NEED one, but you'll want one.
Take the first three digits of your telephone number (not the area code).
Multiply by 80.
Add 1.
Multiply by 250.
Add the last 4 digits of your telephone number.
Add the last 4 digits of your telephone number again.
Subtract 250.
Divide by 2.
What is the result? I found this to be quite tricky.

Is it supposed to be your phone number? I ran it twice, and it gave me the same number, which is a few digits off from my phone number.

It is. I am curious as to why it does not work with yours, as I have tried it with probably 15 different numbers and it works every time. Hmmm....

Yeah! I got my phone number. Here's another weird game (http://trunks.secondfoundation.org/files/psychic.swf) (you must have flash to play).

Operator error- I drank another cup of coffee and ran it again. Worked fine.:D

I was able to figure out the secret to that one after just 2 tries. I still can't figure out the math behind the one I posted and why it works every time. Except for WB. I'm think the problem isn't with the game, though, WB. :p

So my presumption was correct, then.

It's no secret that I am mathmatically challenged, Scaeagles. I'm rather smug about it, actually. I think that when you find something you're good at, you should be proud of that, and I'm real good at being bad at math.:p

Ooooh, tell me the secret behind the one I posted!!! Please please please!

Solution of Lizzie's -
There are only a certain number of answers that the solution can be.
Go through it again, and notice the symbol of the number you select. When it refreshes for you to do again, look at the symbol next to the same number you had just arrived at. That will be the symbol displayed. The numbers that contain the only possible correct answers will always have the same symbol, and it will change every time, so that it looks like the program is predicting your answers.

I'm think the problem isn't with the game, though, WB. :pWell, if X=the first 3 digits of your phone number and Y=the last 4, then your phone number can be represented as 10000X+Y
So, the operations you perform look like this:
(80X+1)*250+2Y-250

Simplifying the numerator, you get 20000X+250+2Y-250.
The +250 and -250 cancel out, leaving you with 20000X+2Y. Divide that by 2 and you get 10000X+Y, which of course is your phone number.

My brain hurts just looking at that.

Yep - makes total sense now. Good old algebra - who said we'd never need it for anything useful?????

Lizziebith's link works on a similar principal.
any 2 digit number can be represented by the equation 10X+Y where X and Y are between 1 and 9.
So, the euqation this time is (10X+Y)-(X+Y). That equals 10X+Y-X-Y, which equals simply 9X. Since X can only be 1-9, the only possible solutions are 9, 18, 27, 36, 45, 54, 63, 72, and 81. So, like scaeagles said, they just seed those 9 numbers with the same symbol and voila, esp.

I am so impressed! Mind you I loved algebra, but it was not easy. I sweated blood for that A. And I've found it's like a foreign language; I lose it if I don't use it. Now, I DO understand those equations, but it would have taken me about a week to actually come up with them (if ever)! :snap: :snap:

Here's another one, similar to Lizzie's but the trick isn't based on mathematics. It's a clever one.
