If a genie knocked on my door today this is what I would wish for.
1) A billion dollars. This takes care of any material wish I, or anyone around me, has for the rest of our lives. Then I'd buy a big ranch with lots of horses and teach my kids about farming and such (I don't know anything about farming though, so I suppose I'd have to outsource it) and travel the world.
2) A beautiful, thin, healthy body. That takes care of dieting and I wouldn't even need plastic surgery to erase the damage that having kids has done to my body. Besides, who wants to be rich without looking fabulous?
3) For everyone I know to have a healthy, balanced body. This would take care of chemical depression, cancer, etc, and also free people up to focus on getting the most out of life. Keeping it balanced is up to them. You can't wish for everything.
I'd be sure to phrase my wishes just right in case I got a tricky genie who tried to give me a billion dollars by making me a Bush or something. What would you wish for?

1. A wallet that magically regenerates money.
2. The ability to heal with a touch.
3. The ability to fly.

1) Omnipotence.
2) Immortality.
3) a really good ham & cheese sammich.

The poster in the bedroom says,
Imagine if you had three wishes, three hopes, and three dreams and they could all come true.
(anyone know what poster it is?)
1) To never exceed a healthy, yet 30lbs overwieght shape. (thats where I'd like to be, but I dont want to do work for the rest of my life to keep it there)
2) That my son will live to have a successful, and comfortable life.
3) That I can learn to accept the love of those around me, and make a life with it.

1) A bank account, in my name, with an infinite amount of money.
2) I want to fly - but I don't want wings or anything. I just want to be able to will myself to do it like in my dreams.
3) The power to heal - including myself of my weight issues.
So basically - money, health and flying. That about covers it.
and like you said - no tricky genie stuff.
Either that, or I wish that all my wishes would come true from now on.

1) An interesting and satisfying (intellectually, morally, and economically) career.
2) An objectively accurate internal gauge against which I can measure my accomplishments, skills, and ultimate worth. (No ego, no depression.)
3) A world where travel to and enjoyment of the treasures of antiquity is safe and free from political interference.

:snap: Yes - please include those in my "and all my other wishes to come true" wish. ;)

I'm loving all these wishes. Wishes are tricksy things. I'm surprised at that a few of you have wished to have healing powers. Once word of that got out, you would never rest for the rest of your life. And then you have a world full of healthy people, which means far fewer people die, which leads to a huge population explosion, which leads to famine and poverty everywhere. I'd like those that I know and love to be healed, but I wouldn't extend it beyond that. It would disrupt the earth's balance.
That's also why I don't want an infinite amount of money. It would devalue the dollar by putting way too much money in the system. So would a billion dollars I suppose. Eventually someone would find out that you have a limitless supply and then everyone on earth wants some. Then there would be so much money that money would mean nothing to anyone and we'd be back to a barter system.
I wish I could fly too. How cool would that be?

I wish that suffering-- helpless, pointless suffering-- be eliminated from all life. We have challenges and they're good for us. Nobody should have to reach a point where their suffering isn't teaching them anything anymore. Nobody should have to live the end of their life in so much pain or anguish that they cannot participate in living.
I wish that I were able to have all of the emotional, physical, financial werewithal to complete the creative projects I imagine.
I wish that everyone on this planet would feel empathy.

I'm going the selfish route.
1. Good health, and all I really mean by that is healthy, clear, pretty, easy to manage skin and healthy gums and teeth, so I can stop worrying about my upcoming dentist visit in November...I'm pretty sure the news will be a) bad...b) expensive.
2. My cats stay young and healthy and happy until the day I day, even if I die at 90.
3. A gurantee that I will not die until the following three things have happened (after which, whatever time I have left is okay by me...):
- I have read the final Harry Potter book. I really don't want to die before finishing that damn series.
- I've had satisfying mattress acrobatics with Gerard Butler. It doesn't have to be mind blowing...just...satisfying.
- Some evil British dude says, "Clever girl," after I thwart his nefarious plans to destroy...something...me, my friends, the world. Just so long as there is thwarting and I get to hear, "Clever girl."

Hmmm, there are the usuals of wealth and health, but I'm thinking ot might be fun to have some sort of unusual powers such as:
Invisibility - get to wander about and be that fly on the wall
Ability to stop or travel through time - How cool would it be to "time out" the world and wander about and see things from different perspectives. Or, the whole time travel thing, check out what really happend.
Ability to live parallel lives - you know, you make those life changing decissions, wouldn't it be cool to at least check out what your life might have been like had you made the other choice? Of course that can make for some fun speculation anyway - perhaps some things it's best we don't know.
Vampireism - think about it, immortality for your self and your best friends (I'm thinking the sexy Anne Rice version of Vampires - we'll without the lame rockstar parts.
I'm still speculating, but I'd at least have one fun frivilous wish.

You never saw the show at Aladdin's Oasis did you?I did but I have selective memory.
And I didn't even have to wish for it!

I think that if everyone had 3 wishes, they could wish for themselves to be healthy...
1.) That I be healthy until the end of my days and die from natural causes that are unrelated to disease, famine, or otherwise unpleasant things.
2.) I like the magical wallet that regenerates money.
3.) Happiness for myself (which would mean that my friends would be happy)
Next up: define happiness, and without unhappiness, how would we measure happiness and define ourselves by it?

Yes! This is definitely on the top of my list. I often wish for that. Not that I'm not happy with my life, I definitely am, but sometimes I'd like to know what it's like to live the life of a heroin addict or a ballet dancer, etc.
Time travel too.
I also wish I had a Beauty and the Beast type mirror that would answer my questions about history. I could ask it who killed JFK, if aliens are real, if there was ever an entertainment trend as awful as reality tv, etc.

I like your mirror, but I look at it and wonder if it would be like a Mirror of Eristed... Would it be telling you truths, or the truth you want to see/hear?
Too many questions, and do we really want the answers?

I know I WOULDN'T wish for immortality. I wouldn't be able to handle life knowing there was no end to it.
And I don't want to know when it ends. Dying itself doesn't scare me, I just wouldn't want to know. If it were soon, I would freak out. If I knew I would live to an old age (quite likely given my genes - great grandma lived to be 107), I would put too many things off. Besides, it would take away the whole surprise factor.
Now, immorality; I don't just wish for it, I make it happen!

Buzzz. Incomplete answer! You also don't want JKR to die, which is what the tricksy devil would do if you wished for just your own health before the series ended.

According to Aladdin's Genie, I also can't have the dead brought back to me. I have absolutely no time to post right now (I'm cheating here as is- maybe I should wish for more time! :D) so I won't get into ethics right now, but if, in my wish, I wasn't disturbing God's plan, I would want the dead back. Of course, knowing that Heaven is perfection, I'd doubt they would want to come back to earth. I know they are by my side and guide me throughout the day, and my life. :)
All that aside, I want my sweetieheart back. I want to go back, if only for a day, to that time in my life when we were planning on getting married and sharing a happy home. Riding on the back of his motorcycle along PCH, having glasses of wine out on our upper deck watching the boats drift by. Snuggling up in bed all comfy cozy and kissing each other goodnight. I'd give anything to see his face one more time, touch his skin & feel him. Even if all I got was a moment to kiss him good-bye, I'd want that. To have him alive again? Well I dream about that at least once a day. Dear God I miss him so much. :(
Or, I'd want a big welcome back dinner with Chris, my best friend Robin (I miss her so much. I miss EVERYBODY so much!!), my two Grandpa's, my dog Doc (laying at my feet), and everybody else I've lost as guests. That would be my wish. :-)

Oh, Feck. You're right. FECK!
I'd like to revise my wish to include J.K. Rowling's mental and physical well being, as well, at least until after she finishes the damn series.
Bastard wishes!
