Lumpy Rug Day.

I looked elsewhere to discover what the hell that meant and found that it is "designed to taunt those who sweep unwanted facts under the carpet."

Do YOU have a lumpy rug?

Teacher's Day and National Applesauce Cake Day. It's also the anniversary of D-Day, which they didn't list. I suppose it just doesn't have the same significance as National Applesauce Cake Day.

How about your month? My birth month is, among others, National Accordion Awareness Month, National Papaya Month and Cancer in the Sun Month. AND... it is both National Pest Control Month and Fight the Filthy Fly Month!

Does anyone know if these national holidays have to be created by act of Congress? Could I go somewhere to read the transcripts of the Congressional debate over the establishment of Fight the Filthy Fly Month?

Bastards! How soon they forget...were it not for the sacrifices of many men and women back then, we wouldn't be able to celebrate NAC Day. Unless, of course, it's a german recipe.

I wonder how they decide which kinds of cakes deserve their own days.

So, it would be appropriate on your birthday to say "Pardon me, could I have some of your date nut bread?" :)

"Golfers Day." Boring.

My birthday is in International Guitar Month, Keep America Beautiful Month, National Anxiety Month, National Humor Month, National Welding Month, National Garden Month, and Uh-Huh Month.

National Anxiety Month, eh? Why would we celebrate anxiety?

What's "Uh-Huh Month"?

Where did these kids get their information? I want to know their sources. I think it's all made up . . . especially since I didn't see Talk Like A Pirate Day on their list.

I just saw libraryvixen's post . . . why isn't "Golfers Day" (in quotes because I think it needs an apostrophe, but I don't want to mess with the name of the holiday lest I offend a golfer or something, but I still don't want people thinking "gee, why can't she use an apostrophe when she needs one?") in National Golf Month?

The lawmakers need to think these things through a little better.

May is Better Sleep Month, National Good Car Care Month, National Photo Month, National Salad Month, National Egg Month, National Barbecue Month, Revise Your Work Schedule Month, Date Your Mate Month, National Hamburger Month, and Fungal Infection Awareness Month.

National Good Car Care Month, eh? May is the month in which one of my cars burst into flames, and a year later I put a nasty scrape/dent in the new one. Not so much.

And MF, Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/April) seems to agree with their list. At least for April.

I'm suprised that some of these didn't make the cut for the April list:

VD Awareness Month
Holy Humor Month
International Twit Award Month
Sports Eye Safety Month

My co-birthday celebrator has noted of our Life in the Cracks already (what in the world does that mean?)

But March is also National Noodle month. Sadly not National Canoodle month, but I guess that Life in the Cracks already took care of that one.

Mine is 'Bird Day' - except in January, how many birds are actually out and about?

I liked this one for January 2nd "Run Up the Flagpole and See if Anybody Salutes It Day"

January is
National Careers in Cosmetology Month,
National Eye Health Care Month,
National Fiber Focus Month,
National Hobby Month,
National Soup Month,
Hot Tea Month,
Oatmeal Month,
Prune Breakfast Month

Hmmm, I wonder what it is about January....

Huh.

The month? Hi Neighbor Month, National Stress Free Family Holiday Month, Bingo's Birthday Month, and Read A New Book Month.

Ok, I can get behind reading a new book month. :) The other three? Eh. December, even here, all the neighbors are hiding in their nice warm houses. Nobody's outside to say hi!

That's kind of what I thought! :) Maybe it's that the combination of the two holidays was funnier than putting BSD where it belongs.

National Salad Month, National Egg Month, National Barbecue Month, National Hamburger MonthUm, can it be all of these foods' month at the same time? I guess you're supposed to barbecue hamburgers and add a side of egg salad.
