Hey, we've got virtual shopping, now we're have virtual night out (which will probably lead to real visits in the future). So, find ys some swanky places to haunt. Anywhere is fine, we have the jet, you know. ;)

For a quick, local jaunt in LA, nothing beats The Standard (http://www.standardhotel.com/index_flash.html) or Encounter (http://www.encounterrestaurant.com/). But, if I want a REAL night out, I want to go to Man Ray in Paris (http://www.worldsbestbars.com/city/paris/man-ray-paris.htm) or The Hotel Costes (http://www.worldsbestbars.com/city/paris/hotel-costes-paris.htm).

Your turn. ;)

Where's the coolest, most happenin', swanky and sophisticated night spot in NYC?

I thought maybe we could stay the night at the Waldorf-Astoria. I hope the W-A is still considered swanky. It was very swanky when I stayed down the block from it years ago.

We could also go to the spa that UvaGirl picked out:

We better start shopping for our warm coats and boots in the next couple of days! :D

What about Legato (http://club.nokia.co.jp/tokyoq/weekly_updates/tqoole/legato.html)

Next time I travel west to the East, that's where I'll be...

Is that the bar used in "Lost in Translation"? Is looks mildly familiar.

I'm pretty sure the Lost In Translation bar is the New York Bar (http://www.club.nokia.co.jp/tokyoq/weekly_updates/tqoole/inthetwilight.html), but honestly, there's so much swankiness in Tokyo. We were there last in November 03. Very tempted to go back soon - tix from SF are only $400 r/t.

Might I suggest the Steak House at the Madonna Inn?

:D

It's hot pink in the fashion that makes Pepto Bismal look white! It's festooned with gold cherubs & dazzling cupids aiming their bows at delighted diners! Velvet adorns the walls, and every flower is plastic! I'm almost certain an oil lamp trickles in the distance. It's the steakhouse that tickles your inner Gotti.

My late boyfriend and I dined there once, before retiring to the Kona Room (complete with amazing rock & waterfall shower, green astroturf carpeting & pineapple chandeliers!) I have to admit, it was very memorable in the best way! :D ;)

We had breakfast there once...very colorful. Of course, I had to sneak a peak into the men's toity. Very swank in the men's toity, no swank in the women's.

RAGE, West Hollywood
Rage certainly earned its bragging rights as one of West Hollywood's hottest boy bars long ago, but a recent $1.7 million remodel that boasts a new floor, state-of-the-art sound and laser/lighting systems reaffirms the nightclub's sticking power for years to come.

Honey, if I ever make the trip with you, we'll stop there. No use for you to eat alone!! :)

I've been there. Very romantic. They sell postcards in the lobby of all of the rooms. If you stay there, you must stay in a room with a rock shower. Trust me.

OOOH! Good choice!

Although, I'm so thermally challenged, I might not have a good time.

I hear it's not so cold inside.. Like a real igloo...

I think it would be cool to go, just for the adventure of it!

Ooooh, yeah, that would be cool.

I don't think my husband and I would have a problem with the temperature. We keep the thermostat in our house, aka The Mausoleum, set at 62 degreees. Maybe as high as 65 if it gets really cold outside.
