Today, less than three years after the invasion of Iraq, the election to install a permanent and constitutional government in Iraq is today.
Say what you will about the reasons for invasion, but this is a great day. I realize there is legitimate debate about whether Iraq is worth one drop of American blood. I believe an established democracy in the middle east means nothing but positive things for the US.
ABC polls have shown recently that around 70% of the Iraqi population has a positive outlook on their future. Similar questions about their feelings toward the US, etc, have positive responses of between 60-75% of those polled.
Iraq is no Vietnam.
