I can't believe I'd never done this before, but last night zapppop and I watched the fireworks from the roof of the parking structure. What an amazing vantage point!

I'm not sure if this would be true every night, but the pay-booths were unmanned when we arrived at 9:15 ... so if I weren't an AP, I would have found free parking and free fireworks quite the entertainment deal.

From the roof of Mickey & Friends, you can view the main pyro from "top to bottom," so to speak. From the moment the shells leave the cannons, till the last little spark hits the ground - it's the fullest view of the pyrotechnics available. The castle and hub fireworks are also clearly visible, and you can even glimpse Tinkerbell's wings through a tree as she flies high above Sleeping Beauty Castle.

What an awesome view. No crowds. No waiting. Pfft, I think I'm gonna head out there to watch the fireworks even if I'm already in the Park.

Wow, I was actually ahead of the game for once in my life...

Side note: Ball and the garage is a GREAT place to see the fireworks. I don’t know if there is an open top deck to the structure but if there is it would make an awesome spot to watch from. (http://www.xenarchy.com/LoT/showpost.php?p=47542&postcount=42)

I'll have to check it out when I come in '06 thanks for your info. :snap:

One day long past, Chris and I met up with Steph, her mom and her sister and had dinner at Hook's. Since the family didn't have AP's, we went to the top of the parking garage to watch Believe. I brought along the soundtrack and Steph brough a boom box. We queued the sound almost exactly on on from the start and had an incredible show all to ourselves. Well, almost all to ourselves. A security guard rode up on his bike, checked out what was going on, shook his head and rode off. ;)

Our APness must've been hanging out.

could this possibly be better than your room balcony? i will always remember the fun that night!

one nice park about viewing fireworks from the parking structure is the quick escape before traffic and no waiting for the tram.:)

a certain eastside building has an awesome view as well, but, you must remain inside until 30 minutes after the show ends.

Totally. I knew that if I could hear iSm's laughing voice from the ground floor near the hotel's swimming pool, that it was going to be a good party.

Actually, the parking structure view is quite a bit better than the balcony view. You can see the launch area, and every little spark actually hitting the ground.

Next time, boom box for sure - with synchmaster zap. And I'll get there a little early so I can snag the spot on the staircase for the totally open-air view. (There were about 20 people there for the show, and the best spot was already taken when we arrived during Fantasmic fireworks).

Quick escape was also terrific. Since zapp now lives about 3 miles down Ball from the structure, I've a feeling Mickey & Friends Fireworks Viewing is about to become a staple.

Well, I was having technical difficulties when I was originally responding, and I see it never showed up...

I've been doing this for quite some time now, and if you don't have fireworks to do on the 4th, the roof of the parking structure is something I've done for a few years now. Occasionally, you can see a mishap, which is always fun... I was sure I had mentioned this before...

We haven't seen Remember from the structure yet, but we did see Believe several times. It really is a fun view, and even if you don't have the soundtrack with you, at least you get a lovely car alarm serenade.

Plus other car fun of seeing exiting vehicles attempt to stop in the middle of the road to watch through their windshields.

Heheh, this one car finally had enough people on his butt that he found a pullout up ahead where he could watch safely. Got there just after the Star Tours sequence, thought the show was over, pulled out and drove away just as the big finale started that he could have watched safely.

D'oh.
