I got my Flyer from American Cinematheque today and there are some great things showing, including a bunch of hitchcok films paired with things hitchcockian such as To Catch a Thief with Charade (January 7) or perhaps more amusing: Spellbound with Mel Brook's High Anxiety (January 8)
Over at the Aero they are Showing all three Indy films over the weekend of the 14th and 15th
And something that caught my eye, a selection of shorts from female directors including Sofia Copola (Lost in Translation) and Niki Caro (Whale Rider). I love envenings of shorts, and seeing how close this is to the Metro stop and Hollywood and Highland, I might just have to make this one happen.
Check out their calendar (http://www.americancinematheque.com/mastercalendar.htm)for more films and dates
So anyone up for a swanky cinema evening at the Egyptian this month?

Could this be fodder for a happenin' birthday meet?

The one that interests me most is the pairing of The Birds with Phase IV, both chilling tales of what might happen if previously harmless but everywhere creatures were to turn on us. Phase IV is about intelligent ants and how we would be helpless to stop them. I've only seen it once, and never in a theater ... but I've wanted to see it again for years now - - and I don't see how I could resist a double feature with The Birds, one of my Hitch faves.

That is a very wonderful lineup of films. Sorry I won't be there to enjoy them. I can only hope that February promises something equally interesting when I am in town.

I think I'm going to try to make the Femal Directors shorts, and have put it on the calendar (http://www.loungeoftomorrow.com/LoT/calendar.php?do=getinfo&c=1&day=2006-1-10). Perhaps there can be a Metro Swanking before hand?
