There seems to be rumblings over at MP and MC about Bengal BBQ being removed to make way for expanding the River Belle Terrace. Anyone hear anything?

Only from the same sources that you mentioned.
If it is true, it really saddens me. The Bengal BBQ is such a nice place to go grab a quick and tasty snack. And to make matters worse, I have a hopeless addiction to the bacon-wrapped asparagus.
I really hope there will be some outcry on this and Disneyland will reconsider.

mmm bacon
Actually, I never bought much at BBBQ, since a dollar a bite seemed a bit much...

Well, here's some possibly useless 411 about the BBBQ.
My good friend Mimi knows the man who built the tree shaped grill for that restaurant. I'll see if I can get the inside info on it.

The Bengal BBQ is an interesting diversion, but it seemed so expensive for what you got. Most everything is expensive on property, but Bengal always seemed even more so.

Is the Bengal Barbeque part of the same facility used for the Riverbelle Terrace ?

Expensive, yes, but I love it so. I consider it an essential spot on my too infrequent visits. If this happens, I will have to look heavenward, shake my fists and utter a loud, low, slow motion NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

This is the quote that started the rumor:
"I'm a Foods op castmember in Riverbelle Terrace. Two days ago the area manager made it known that as of October 2006 the Bengal BBQ will be shuttered and torn out to make room for additional Riverbelle seating. No, it will not be rebuilt elsewhere in the park. "
Today Al mentioned that the budget for fiscal year 2007 had been approved & The Riverbelle Terrace will close in the fall:
And what about the plans for a refreshed Fantasmic? Now that the demolition and reconstruction of the Riverbelle Terrace facility that we previously told you about has been approved for fiscal 2007, with work to start next Fall, maybe it's time to dust off those old Cynthia Harriss plans to create a "Fantasmic! II" for the summer of '07? They're in a bit of a quandary right now in TDA, and the roaring success of the 50th Anniversary that has exceeded even the most optimistic plans of 18 months ago has put quite a bit of pressure on TDA to not let the 2007 and '08 numbers fall in a hole once the 50th party ends this October.
Hmmm ........

Good riddance, I say. I loved the place when it first opened, but that's when there stuff was spicy as flaming hell ... and such an anomaly for Disneyland. The food has long since become bland and way too expensive. I really like the look of the place, though ... and will be sad to see it go for aesthetic reasons only.

Shouldn't there be at least one Adventureland-themed eatery in the area? I suppose I would be ok with this if they rebuilt the Tahitian Terrace but that's probably not going to happen. It just seems wrong that the only food you can get in Adventureland is off of a fruit cart.

It'll be interesting to see how they expand the Riverbelle that deeply into Adventureland territory without throwing the theming off.

I was thinking about this, too.
They could enclose the Bengal BBQ and just theme the outside wall with an Adventureland theme. The inside could be Frontierlandesque.

I assume these would be much larger in size than the ones on Main Street. I've always figured that Tarzan was packing some serious meat.

Would a loincloth provide adequate coverage for "serious meat"?

Is Rainforest Cafe owned by Disney? I thought I heard they owned it.
No, Rainforest Cafe is owned by Landry's Restaurants (http://www.landrysrestaurants.com/home.htm). Which also owns these fine restaurants (http://www.landrysrestaurants.com/pages/restaurants/pg_restaurants.htm); most of which I've never heard of.

Bengal is one of my favorites and I'll miss it. I do have the recipe off of MP for he Banyan sauce which is excellent - and you can put it on cuts of meat that you can actually chew. The skewers from Bengal lately have the toughest cuts of meat, really hard to get down.

Son of a humph! For those who do not (or can not) eat meat, the veggie skewer was a nice treat.

Bengal is probably my favorite nosh at the Park. The quality and taste have never let me down and I eat there every chance I get - except I'm usually the only one favoring it.
