View Full Version : New Survivor to Start Feb 2

Survivor - Exile Island starts on Feb 2. The participants are up on the CBS website.
I would like to point out that my preseason hot-chick pick from Survivor Guatemala, being Danny, won the whole thing. After a bit of disappointment with her pink cowboy hat and big lips that looked meatier than most of her dangerously thin body, I was quite pleased with how she cleaned up at the reunion show.
So, I have two favorite preseason hot-chicks in this one - Danielle and Misty. My recent track record would suggest that one of them will win.:)

I don't get 'Survivor'. If I wanted to see sweaty, screaming people in tank tops drinking the blood of some animal mixed with milk, I'd attend one of my family reunions...

This is all Nickolas can talk about. We have been watching Survivor together since his bed time got changed. He sits on me and takes out the girls. So at 8pm tonight I will have 100 pounds of boy and 5 girls on me for an hour. Such fun!!

Random thoughts on the premier episode -
The girl who went all freaky over the dead turtle.....not quite sure what to say about her. The other girls looking at her was priceless. A little on the odd side for me.
The yoga guy who had them line up their hands and visualize fire.....was he thinking some kind of spontaneous human combustion was going to happen? OK. Hook him and the turtle chick up and we've got quite th couple.
The chick who spent the night on Exile Island is one fine looking female.
What kind of moron smokes three packs a day and expects to be able to quit cold turkey WHILE playing Survivor. It could be quite entertaining to watch him, so I kind of hope he's around a while.
What's with the oriental ninja with the machete?
The younger black guy - just a little full of himself.
Look forward to seeing more. Always do.

Ah, good stuff. All hail the turtle. :)
I like the fact that they are going to pretty much have to re-invent the strategy of the game with all of the new factors involved. For the time being, I'm rooting for the old guys. How can you not love a ninja, astronaut, fighter pilot, and psychotic nicotine addict? What a combo! in comparison, the younger guys and women seem as dumb as a sack of potatoes but that could just be the first impression that they gave me. The older women have heart but that was a dumb choice at tribal council. Celie (sp?) doesn't seem like she is going to be an asset in the challenges. Maybe she will prove otherwise though.
I think it is going to be an interesting season.

They blur female-ass-crack when it happens also. Sad.
I think this is one of the hotter collections of young women they've had in a while (though turtle girl lost some points with her turtle craziness).

I will add, on the hotness issue, that Ruth Marie is one mighty fine looking 48 year old. I really hadn't noticed her on the website, but during the show and particularly tribal council she really stood out to me.

Technically she was not afraid of leaves but rather what might be living in them. As for how she got on survivor:
It's because she's afraid of leaves.

Yeah, but we all dislike her, so that's not really very good tv, is it? I don't find her funny or amusing, I just want her to go away and give her spot to someone else..
I'd really like to see more survival-types on Survivor. There's not really much in the way of actual survival skills required.

????
They have to build fire to boil water, find their own food, build their own shelter, deal with harsh environments.....there's a lot of survival stuff going on.

I was kinda bummed in watchin the few episode I saw, that nobody ever tried to beat up members of the other team or show staff, or blatently cheat, they all just docilly played along with whatever lame challenge they were given. I think they should at least try to recreate the Milgram experiemnt in some of their challenges.
I want Lord of the Flys with Adults - maybe then I'd watch it.

They're given a map to a camp, a map to a well with fresh water, flint, rice, reward goodies (come on--one group got a coffee machine that plugged into a tree stump--that's survival?), yadda yadda. I say dump 'em on an island and see what they can do without the aid of the structured challenges, rewards, assistance, etc.
I don't want to see them do obstacle courses and art projects. I want to see who drops out first if they're left to their own devices.

Any thoughts on last nights show? Here's mine...
- I'm still trying to figure out how or why Celie is still there.
- I hope Shane sticks around, for no other reason than he is entertaining.
- I still haven't changed my mind that most of these contestants are dumber than a sack of potatos.
- I am enjoying watching all the strategic curve balls the producers are coming up with. It's nice to see old tactics get shaken up a bit.

I was annoyed when, once again, a "huge twisted" lasted all of one episode. Even with the curveball of Mr. Miyagi spending 3 days on exile island, once again the amazing hook at the beginning of the seasons turns out to be nearly meaningless. Bleh.
Incidentally, they didn't show much of Miyagi out there. I'm thinking that may mean he found the idol.
Celie is still there due to one of the best uses of tears in the history of Survivor.

Interesting theory. I noticed the lack of coverage, other than his karate practice, but didn't consider that. Could be.
And I agree that merging so quickly was pretty disappointing. I would like to have seen how it played it out.
And yeah, that was a pretty smart move on Celie's part. I guess I'm just surprised that it had as much of an effect as it apparently did.

Aras should be thankful that Shane is a psycho. When he told the girls that one of the 2 of them would be going home and he hadn't decided which one, it was only Shane's assinine comments that took the focus away from him.
Shane keeps blaming his behavior on his lack of nicotine, but there is more to it than that. He is a nutjob.

- I was glad to see the other team go to tribal council. I hate when it is so lopsided that the same team always goes. The team that won the immunity challenge showed more heart than I had expected.
- I'm surprised nobody got sick from the t-shirt water filtration system. I find the idea that this contraption removed 90% of the contamination to be somewhat suspect.
- Shane's days are numbered. Unfortunately, I think Austins may be as well. Whenever someone chooses to give their alliegence to more than one group, it rarely turns out well.

Appologists.
He has me thinking, though...getting send to exile island constantly is a GREAT strategy. You don't have to deal with the looneys in the tribe, you don't have the chance to piss anyone off, if you're like Bruce you get to come back and be a hero for a day, and everyone feels sorry for you so they won't vote you off. Sweet deal.

I've wondered about the benefits vs. disadvantages of being exiled.
Yeah, you can't make anyone mad, but you don't have the chance to make any alliances, either. But, looking at the four on his tribe that had alligned and the state of their relationship, it may certainly be an advantage.
I'm still undecided.

Goodness, I hope not! That guy is so unbelievably psychotic that I want him to stick around. Plus, no matter how stupid it was, you have to admire someone who would go on Survivor knowing he couldn't take his 3 packs/day.
The promos are promoting another "big twist". I get tired of the show promoting "big twists" when I can't think there ever being a big twist midseason, aside from the first time they rearranged the tribes.

While I'm certainly not sharing any tears over Bobby being gone, that tribe just lost a major contributer in the challenges, IMO. Were it not for him, I have a feeling a lot of fish would still have their heads. Which reminds me, what a less than ideal way to be introduced into sushi. :)
If it were me, I would have kept Bobby around for his strength for a little while, knowing that at some point, he was a goner. I would have dropped yoga girl.
As far as the other tribe, who knew the damage that some beans could inflict?

Of course, then he went and immediately backstabbed his porta-buddy by voting for him. That was odd.

So let's re-cap. Bruce's martial arts skills proved useless. Now that he's spending time in camp people are getting annoyed at him. And he's unable to chop the head off a fish with a giant cleaver. Yup, should have stayed on exile island.
Which reminds me, what a less than ideal way to be introduced into sushi. :)The moral of this weeks episode: Raw, uncleaned fish with no refrigeration is a-ok to eat, but watch out for those boiled beans!!
