I was just BLOWN AWAY by this artists work. I love the fact that it is little ole sublime crochet but the subject matter is anything but sublime.

The artist is Patricia Waller and her work can be found here. (http://www.patriciawaller.com/images.html)

Wow! Fabulous! I like the bunny impaled on the carrot!
I'm impressed, I never got further than a chain stich!

Somehow it's extra disturbing that these look like children's toys.

Dang! For some reason I can't access that site from work; I'll have to try tonight from the home PC.

Along the same lines (I suspect) is the work of this horror film fan/knitter: DOTD zombies. (http://electricbiscuitonline.blogspot.com/2005/10/dawn-of-knitted-dead.html)

I found the child falling off the bicycle particularly disturbing. The lobster and steak, however, made me hungry. :)

At home, now I can finally check this stuff out. Wow, I love the "Texts English" essay. My favorite quote: As a member of the "Institute for the Observation of Alterable Things", she deciphers with a wink inconsistencies that exist on the border between kitsch and art, and unconventionally reports on the Zeitgeist Boulevard with subtle scepticism.

Holy mother of all that is fuzzy I want the application for membership to that Institute!

Her work brings back great memories: I used to knit-in at my women's group protests in college. Good times. :snap:
