Ahem, how is his last name pronounced?
;)

House Republicans on Thursday elected U.S. Rep. John Boehner of Ohio as majority leader.

He upset Rep. Roy Blunt of Missouri in a 122-109 vote on the second ballot. Rep. John Shadegg of Arizona dropped out of the running after the first ballot.

Boehner, DeLay, Blunt, Bush... hardly the appropriate names for such distinguished GOP members.
:D

On a serious note, my own Representative, being John Shadegg, was defeated in his bid to take the position.

I wonder if Boehner's state (Ohio) had anything to do with the decision.

This is from Boehner's website:

John Boehner (Bay-ner), elected to represent the Eighth Congressional District of Ohio for an eighth term in November 2004, continues to be a key leader in the fight for a smaller, more accountable federal government.

Source (http://johnboehner.house.gov/bio.asp)

This is funny for 2 reasons:

1. He knew people would think his name was pronounced 'Bo-ner' so he clarified the way to say it.

2. Quote: "smaller, more accountable federal government"? Hahahahaha! :D

No, he isn't concerned about boner. I'm guessing he was afraid people would think it was pronounced "bee-ner" and he wouldn't want to be confused for a Mexican.

So now I have to READ the origional post before I comment on it? This could really cut down on my post count.

And I'll negative rep the first person who implies that anything which cuts down on my post count is a good thing.. :p

Anything that cuts down on your post count is a good thing (I implied nothing, I stated it explicity).

Was it not fairly obvious from the names that you were going to get screwed?

Boehner may have a hard re-election campaign.
