Not wanting to hijack the Mamabot birthday thread....iSm kindly responded to my inquiry about his new avatar

(the avatar is a portion of a concept art piece displayed in the Disney Gallery at the Park, portraying the "crystal" section of Adventure thru Inner Space)

Oh! Got it now! Very cool piece of concept art, I've not ever seen that before.

I loved ATIS and rode it many times as a kid. I think my parents liked it because it was a free, cool spot and it kept me quiet. I have many fond memories of the ride and can still hear the narration in my head and visualize the ride. I can remember how it felt at the end of the ride when we got to the nucleus and the flashing red, I always felt like it was my own heart beating and maybe it was. A cool ride (no pun intended) and always one of my favorite memories of the old Tomorrowland as I remember it best.

Who'll help me raise $26,000,000 so that I can fulfill my lifelong dream of building an exact replica of the ride in my back yard?

You don't have a backyard.

I so miss this ride. When I was little, I really thought we shrank!

The whole family rode it, it was awesome.

Sadly, I only remember riding it once with a date. {normally went with family}
And it was a double date that I was set up on {hey, like I am going to turn down a trip to Disneyland??? Sorry, Disneyho I am!!} so no making out.

But, on a brighter note, the back seats on the Pooh ride are great for making out in. :D

hope the Hubster never sees this if we've riden it together!

Lisa, too funny. Maybe iSM is including a back yard in the price? Hmm. No, in California, it would be double that.

Clearly I missed the great make-out spot in DL in my youth! That's hysterical, never ocurred to me. Clueless

I love, love LOVE Innerspace. As a little girl, I was terrified to go on for the first time. My Mom had to convince me that we really didn't shrink. Like MouseWife, I thought that we miniaturized!

Once I finally rode, I was addicted.

My heart broke when Innerspace closed its doors. Bye bye, giant rainbow snowflake. :(

MAGNIFICATION!!

;) :p

I *heart* Monsanto.

My friends know that I'm obsessed, I love the site that Gemini Cricket linked. I received, as a gift, that guy's DVD of the virtual ride thru. And I have the entire ride loop on my Ipod. I love it.

Everytime I ride Star Tours, which is pretty rare, I picture Innerspace. I was too young to make-out on it, unfortunately (otherwise, stand by cowboy!) But it will always be my favorite. Always. :)

I love it. He really got it down to a "T". All of the atoms, all of the crystallized snowflakes. Even when you "disembark the ride", if you look "outside into Tomorrowland" you can see the Mary Blair mural.

If you turn out all of the lights, and focus real hard, you can recreate your youth.

God knows I've tried. And it really works. It's as close as I can get to a wayback machine. And I'm happy each time. :)

I think I'm going to watch the DVD and make out with Chris on the couch. I have to see what I missed all those times. ;)

One of my big weirdo things about Innerspace was that as a kid I would have sworn that ATIS was located where Buzz is now. I know it never was, but for some reason, that's where my mind remembers it being. I was 10, maybe I was overstimulated to remember everything exactly as it was.

I, too, was one of those kids that thought I became as small as an atom! Course years later I was a regular on the "Adventures Thru Inter Course" ride! LOL

You know, there's a lot of things that I could say and I just can't say these things at the expense of my husband. Why I have a sudden sense of decorum, I don't know. Don't expect it to last though. ;)

Yes, fella's generally take umbrage at sexual exploits with them being called "Riding the Micro anything." It's just not a descriptive appellation we prefer.

I'm not sure I'd want a Paul Frees imitator hanging around my bedroom...

I'm not sure I'd want a Paul Frees imitator hanging around my bedroom... We're in the 21st century. Surely some sort of implant coupld accomplish this. Though it would need a mute button. I mean, if you think it's embarassing when your cell phone rings at inappropriate times...

It's the MIGHTY Microscope!! For a few months, I had the sound clip of Paul Frees "MAGNIFICATION!" as my maximize sound on the Atomic Cookie Blast Furnace.

"Mighty Microscope" is just what you call someone's er, anatomy, when you're trying to bolster their confidence though they've been natured with the short end of the stick.
