Tommys Burgers (http://www.originaltommys.com/)

A discussion broke out here today on 'best burger' and someone started touting The Original Tommy's Burgers in the L.A. area (that has now aparrently made its way here to San Diego) and they're looking to make a run to check it out.

Since you folk ARE the source for swanktacular eats in the LA area....thought I'd get the lowdown from y'all.

sooo.....anyone tried 'em? thoughts?
(with apologies to any veggie folk that might be listening in)

I loves me a good Tommy's burger. It's all about the chili. Just be super careful when finding one, there are a lot of imitators (things like "Tomy Burger" or "Tommy's Famous Burger", etc.). Be absoultely sure the one you go to displays the little original burger shack icon somewhere. It looks like this (upper left corner):

I love Tommy's chiliburgers! :) Really messy but delicious. The only other place that comes close, IMO, is Carney's on Sunset.

And as GD wisely points out, beware of imitators.

Tommy's is great at 3am after clubbing. Not so good the next morning. ;)

And, Rampart St is interesting at that time of night.
