The Elton John (http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=13839#) movie Gnomeo & Juliet, an animated film (http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=13839#) based on William Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet," is no longer in production at Walt Disney (http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=13839#) Feature Animation, says The Hollywood Reporter (http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=13839#).
John was producing the animated (http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=13839#) musical about small star-crossed lovers through his Rocket Pictures and was engaged to write the movie's songs.
"Gnomeo" was Disney's second animation collaboration with John following 1994's The Lion King, which featured John's "Can You Feel the Love Tonight."
The crews at Walt Disney Feature Animation who were in production on the project have been reassigned to other projects, a Disney spokeswoman said.
