Plus, something fun for all you Boingoloids - It's Oingo Boingo Playing Disney Grad Nite 1986 (http://youtube.com/watch?v=5kWx09OJvmc)

The clothing and "dance" styles are hilarious - check out who's dancin' with the kids! :D

Actually, I felt myself getting sad watching it as Irealized that I will (probably) never again see them live.

Gee, was that um, lip synching?

...check out who's dancin' with the kids! :D OK, I saw Goofy. Was there someone else I missed?

I thought I saw the Big Bad Wolf... (But quit watching after that.)

We thought we were so cool.

So what makes you think, now that you're thinking back, that you're not cool?

Why couldn't they be there when I went in '88 and '89? I don't care if it is wasn't live, what a band!

Well there's something you don't see everyday! The Old Hag from SW&T7D dancing to Boingo! The lip synching? That was common place back then. I feel sad that I never got to see Oingo Boingo live back then.:( They are still one of the greatest bands that ever played back in the '80's. Them and the B- 52's. At least I got to see the B- 52's!

I was at a Disney Grad Night in 86 and I don't remember Boingo being there. All I remember were crappy bands.

However, Boingo did play at my high school my freshman year.

Wow. I was 6 in 86.
Just for reference nothing cool happened at Grad Night 97 either.
There are only a few bands I am glad that I got to see live while they were still pretty cool or the memebers weren't dead yet: The B-52's, Nirvana, Sublime there are a couple of others but they escape me right now.....

Hey hey hey. I responded to that thread. The sad part is I saw that catalog a couple of weeks ago and I made of fun of the watermelon outfit. I mean it has a big damn watermelon on it!! I also am not such a huge fan of those slouchy gold or other brightly colored leathery handbags that are so poplular. I guess I like more structure.....

Hey hey. But my sister graduated in 86. So yes I do remember the times. I also remember her serious obsession for Duran Duran....

yeah...there was nothing wrong with Boingo or Duran Duran in my book!

I saw the B-52's in concert. With the Violent Femmes as their opening act. Why can't I get just one screw? Believe me I know what to do... Aww..femme-ories. :)

Long live the 80's! I'm typing to the strains of Bronski Beat on my Ipod.

My Grad Night was '91, and the hot acts I got to see were C&C Music Factory and En Vogue. :D Come to think of it, years earlier I saw El DeBarge at Videopolis.

Aw, Grad Night. Nothing like riding the train over and over with exhausted, desperate for sleep, blood shot-eyes as the sun rises and your boyfriend is passed out cold. Good times. :snap: :p

Hey Ally I might be able to top you. While seeing El DeBarge was awesome, I have to admit I did see one of the most craptastic acts ever. Now while it may not have been a grad night at DL, I did see dum dum dummmmmmmmmmmmmmm........ RIGHT SAID FRED in concert at Magic Mountain of all places. DL was way too high class to have them at ANY function in the park. Plus they were super tacky and FYI, I did not WANT to go to the show. I was DRAGGED there by my insane sister who loved them.

And hey I never said there was anything wrong with Duran Duran or Boingo. I only got to see Duran Duran when they were making their comeback and I never got to see Boingo.:( Hey, Listening to 80's music and old punk tunes reminds me of my childhood. (How many kids can say when they were 3 their favorite song was stray cat strut and knew all the words to God Save the Queen? )

HOLY COW, TK!! I literally just choked on my Ice Blended!! Hahaha!!! That is so awesome! I'm too sexy for my shirt.. (and indeed, he was. Remember him tearing it off while walking down the street in the video??? Hot stuff! :p )

Details! I want to know every super-tacky detail of that concert!! :D

I might be able to top that, or at least come in at a close second. I saw PIA ZADORA & JERMAINE JACKSON filming a music video at Magic Mountain! She was frolicking in the huge fountain in front (is that even still there? I haven't been to Six Stabs in like, 14 years) lip-syncing her heart out to the pre-recorded track blaring on the speakers! :snap:

The thing I remember most about that show was I was so pissed that I was even there!!!! They had that super lame stage set up and some lame DJ from KIIS was there and some crappy band even opened for them. I remeber them coming out and starting to sing I'm too sexy and like girls screaming and crying and it being this huge deal as if the F'in Beatles were on stage. I was like seriously!!! It is RIGHT SAID FRED!!!! They only sang like 6 songs then they were done and the sad part of the night was I didn't even get to ride on Colossus, which was the whole damn I reason I even went to the show. I was promised rides and instead I got t-shirt ripping bald dudes singing about how sexxxxxxxxxy they were......

HAHAHAHA. I LOVE that you saw Pia Zadora AND Jermaine Jackson!!! That is quite frankly one of the best things I have heard all day. I remember when they used to have a whole range of musical acts perform there until TLC came and ruined it by casuing a riot in the park......

Since we are Grad Night Band Reminiscing®, the big name at my Grad Night (1982) was Tommy Tutone doing a 20 minute rendition of "867-5309" getting the whole audience the cout out the phone number with their fingers.
