Disney's marriage to Pixar took a new turn Monday when the company announced that it would be turning Finding Nemo (http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0266543/) into a musical. Unlike The Lion King (http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0110357/), Beauty and the Beast (http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0101414/), Tarzan (http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0120855/) and the upcoming The Little Mermaid (http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0097757/), Nemo will not be finding a home on Broadway. According to the company, Finding Nemo -- The Musical will be presented at Disney's Animal Kingdom in Orlando, FL, will last only a half hour, and will feature puppets and live performers. "It is the first time in theme-park history that we have taken an animated film that is not a musical and turned it into a musical," Anne Hamburger (http://us.imdb.com/name/nm2173735/), executive director of Disney Creative Entertainment, told the Orlando Sentinel. "Nemo is the next generation of theatrical entertainment for the company. It will encompass a lot of visual spectaculars and will be a very popular show." The music is being written by Avenue Q composer Bobby Lopez and his wife, Kristen Anderson-Lopez, who wrote the book, music and lyrics for the a cappella musical Along the Way.

Will we get to stare at the chick's boobs like Nemo on Ice?
It's a theme park show, I don't see a problem with trying it. Equating it with the broadway shows seems odd. Even if Anne Hamburger has delusions of creative skill.

Even if Anne Hamburger has delusions of creative skill. She did the EXACT same thing with the Snow White show, claiming it to be Broadway caliber, and then saying something like "people that go to theme parks don't usually see Broadway shows, what a treat for them" angering plenty of APers.
Actually, unless I am misremembering, it was Aladdin she called Broadway caliber. It seemed to me that she very studiously learned her lesson on that one and avoided such explicit comparisons for Snow White.
And the same this time around. She isn't the one making the comparison. The writer of the piece (StudioWeb (http://www.movieweb.com/news/45/12045.php)) is. What caught me as odd is the writer's presentation that it is somehow a suprise that an elaborate stage piece is being done for an amusement park rather than Broadway.

Um, no ... the same Broadway-caliber comparisons were touted for Snow White, whereas the truly much more lame Aladdin was touted as actually "bound for Broadway."
Hahhahahahaha AS IF!
I was told quite explicitly at the press event for the show that it was not a Broadway caliber show.
Of course, that doesn't mean other people didn't make the comparisons though I doubt you'll find Anne Hamburger doing so on record. But I could be wrong and it is a difference of degrees.
Never having seen either the Aladdin or Snow White (Sheila was the one who went in and watched, I was relegated to other tasks) stage shows I am certainly not in a position to evaluate.

I think SW had a choreographer and director with Broadway credits.
