Do you miss the visit of a boy delivering a telegram? The concentration of composing a witty but short message? Do you miss the inner terror of what the bad news might be? Do you think Western Union made a mistake when they finally killed the venerable telegram?

Well, worry no more, you can still send them, by mail and even better, by email. Yes, that's right, you can send a retro-gram. Just pay a visit to Retro-Gram (http://www.retro-gram.com/), pick your style of telegram and choose whether to send via email (free) or regular mail (a measley $3.95). For the ultimate gift you can have a custom retro-gram printed on vintage telegraph paper (not cheap but really a swanky gift idea).

I've sent several and everyone has loved them. I give them   for this fabulous idea.

I got a mail version for my BD from Snowflake and it was TRES COOL! It is printed on cool yellow paper with blue-grey ink that looks like it came from a typewriter.

It says:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LISA STOP

I HOPE YOU HAVE A SWANKY ONE STOP

I ALSO HOPE THE NATAL CELEBRATION CONTINUES ONWARD TO BOSTON STOP

I'm so unimaginative, I should have mailed the SHAG BD card anyway! :-)

Next year I'll come up with a rude birthday limerick since it will be 45.....
