View Full Version : I'm grouchy

One of those rare days when I am cranky with the world. FedEx claims to have delivered my new (expensive) audio card on Monday, not on MY front porch. Can't get ahold of my landlord where FedEx will drop stuff, she usually leaves it on her porch. Nothing there and no return phone calls and no answer at her front door this morning. So I can't call FedEx to really kvetch and raise a stink because I don't know where the damn box is.

My ex-roomie (soon to be current roomie again) is going off the deep end and I know I am walking straight into a hornet's nest there. I feel like I might be making a huge mistake moving back in with her, however temporary. Been there, done that and I thought all the old baggage was over and done with, clearly, it's not.

I'm letting my boss know on Monday my plans (leaving) and then giving formal notice on May 5th (I want to pass my 5 year anniversary), the bad thing is, and totally unexpectedly, a patent paralegal he works closely with just gave her notice. I'm dreading the confrontation now, timing could not be worse, he's going to have a total meltdown.

Everyone has one of those days. Mine happens to be every other day. :D

I say go with it. If you're in a grouchola mood, be in a grouchola mood. Embrace it.

I say this because the last thing someone wants to hear when they're in a pis$ed off mood is for some Pollyanna to say, 'Get glad, Snowflake!'

Oy.

JUST KIDDING!

I hate cranky days. Mostly because I don't like being cranky towards those who have nothing to do with my crankiness.

Bigs Bunny? Bugs Bunny? :p

I did tell them to knock off their burping contests. That was just gross.

I forgot my laptop, or I would have gone back to the second floor (where I came from), and taken over a conference room. No one is happy with this move. Now the upstairs is really noisy and the downstairs is really noisy. It was only the downstairs that was noisy before because the customer service people were with the sales people and they were both noisy. Now everyone suffers.

No, not yet. I'm waiting on my landlord for a return call, if no call, then tonight I go off on my landlord, or her son who lives next door. Then I will call FedEx and rant and rave. Normally I have stuff like this delivered to my office.......but this time I thought, oh no big deal......stupid me.

I have two bags of robin's eggs (malted milk balls) here if you'd like them Po. I can't eat them, not part of my food world these days.

Well, no I didn't. Sorry you're having a miserable move. Quiet and comfy is a good thing. Will hearos help?

After the firm merger last year, we moved into the "other sides" office. A more surley and hostile group you've never seen. They HATE the PW legacy people (of which I am one) so I will not be sorry to say farewell to them.

My boss is also miserable here, I hope that if nothing else, I will spur him on to greater things, he needs to go and I've been telling him that for months. But he is just paralyzed right now. Maybe this will jolt him into going.

if I cant hit the head shaped object, I then become furious, which moves in to livid when I keep missing.

Well, I did what I always do, to a lesser degree than I would have normally done a month ago. I went and treated myself to a nice lunch at my favorite Vietnamese place. Hanoi grilled pork and an imperial roll. Totally not on my diet, for today I do not care. In the scheme of things, it's a small false step. I'm still now wearing clothes I could not wear a year ago and I feel better because I though I cheated, it was not like I ate a pint of Ben & Jerry's! :-)

Still no call from my landlord, so I might deduce she is not home, so I need to visit her son's house tonight. Could be that when the FedEx was delivered, the parcels were put in her house on the assumption thay all belonged to her.

Okay, I feel better, not grouchy anymore. Thanks everyone! Have a

I'm grouchy today...

I got out early to catch the bus - it didn't show up...

Then, some yahoos decided to use the Orange Line busway as a race track, so I encountered another delay,
top that with a gusher of a bloody nose (with no tissue around), and it was a wonderful commute...

I got in just under 50 minutes late

Today I took the train to go to our main office - to sit in for a meeting my boss was going to attend. But it was cancelled and he forgot to tell me.

I went to a vacent desk to plug in my laptop to work from there, but the empty cube now has a new employee in it.

None of the outlets worked in the conference room

I got word furnature was going to be installed in my office - so I headed there - by bus.

As my first bus pulled into the major transitway, it passed my connecting bus just pulling out, so I had to sit for a half hour for the next one.

None of the new cubicle furniture matches the stuff that was already there

Tonight while heading home, Not Afraid tried to call me on my cell - while I was trying to pick up her dropping calls, I managed to pass my stop. So I had to get off the train and catch the next one heading in the opposit direction

I think I'll stay home tonight

I'm a bit cranky tonight. Eric took my phone in to work to upgrade some stuff, and now it has some stupid, cheesy ass ringtone instead of my Green Day Holiday one. So, I look up the old ringtone, and I can only find it in Muzak form. (Insert barfy face here). I turned the ringer off and if anyone wants to call me they'll have to wait until I check messages, because I'll be damned if I offend my ears with the crap that's on there now.

Oh, and I got my hair cut and no one in my house noticed. I cut off six inches, and nada. ****ing idiots. Bet they'd notice if I forgot to feed their asses.

I'm back to being REALLY grouchy. Okay, an update, the landlord came home from a short Easter vacation, called me right away, video card was in her house. I got it, today I played hooky and went to Geek Squad. After hanging around for 2.5 hours and "oh he's loading the software it will be another 15 minutes" they FINALLY told me, we're having an issue with some drivers and just go home and we'll call you. We're not sure why it's not working, but loading the drivers keeps bombing out. Well, it's not like I am close to GS, but I reluctantly go home. Furious at the time wasted, if they had told me off the bat it would take time, I would have gone home with no problem. Oh wait, the other thing was, I needed to swap out a drive bay and that required a new replacement drive bay for the CD-R/DVD-R, etc. So add that and then they would charge me not only $40 for installing the audio card, but an additional $40 for the drive bay too. So, I go home, essentially waste the rest of the day as I am too furious and frustrated to get anything done around here.

They call me at 7:30 pm and tell me that there is some conflict with the RAM and the sound blaster card and they cannot get the thing to recognize the driver or the audio card. So, they want to know if I still want the new CD-R/DVD-R installed. I don't need and I say no. They tell me, come down in a hour. I do, they refund everything.

It's now 10, I get the thing in here and I can't plug in anything to the high speed USB ports because some idiot plugged it back in in such a way that it's not alinged right and I cannot fit any USB plug in because half the port is below the metal frame.

So the upshot is, I have to take the &#%^@#^@ thing back tomorrow so they can fix this once and for all.

Two really good experiences with Geek Squad and I guess the third time is the charm. I guess I will be buying a new PC sooner than I thought.

Crummy weather and general apathy.
My give-a-damns busted. TYVM.

On a happy note there is a Target opening in the Spectrum. Just what I need. Target across the street from work. Bad enough there is one across the street from my house. Good thing I'd have to drive to the one by work. Or bad. Because I'd buy more.

I'm in a grumpy mood today too. Started last night, continued this morning with an aggravating conference call that started at 7 AM and lasted 2 hours.

I think I'm too overly tired to deal with stress, so that only increases the grumpiness.

Oh! Sorry to hear this! Can you treat yourself (or better yet, someone treat YOU) to a nice lunch with a glass of wine or something to relax you and help your frame of mind?

Hey Sam, guess what?

That software upgrade you've been preparing for, the one scheduled for the end of July?... yeah that one... the one we still haven't sent you training videos or study guides for?

Well, you see, it's like this... some planner with no discernable link to reality has decided we're going to do that upgrade over the Memorial Day weekend. Please make sure your people don't have any plans over the holiday weekend, 'cuz we're prolly gonna need 'em to work that Sunday and Monday. You'll probably want to let 'em know as soon as possible.

Oh yeah... those training vids? Yeah, well, we're not gonna be able to send those either. I can't really give you any guidance on training your people. See that's just not something movers and shakers that inhabit my level of the stratosphere have to worry about. That's why we have you.

You're doing a great job, btw

Love ya

Stupid f'n weather. It just reminds me of all outdoor bday parties I had as a kid that were ugly like this. I hate wearing a sweater and ending up with hot weather by the afternoon, or freezing your ass off because you thought it would clear up but it doesn't. Hey, remember those painful weeks of school in May when you could practically feel summer vacation coming on?

Spring is my least favorite season, except for the bday part.

Today will be the first 100 day of the year in Phoenix. We'll probably have 5 or 6 more days in May under 100, but other than that, we'll be over 100 every day for the next 4 months, with probably 30-45 days over 110.

I actually like this weather. Spring is always my favorite season. The flowers are beautiful the look so vibrant when it is overcast.

It's a bit muggy for me though and it reminds me that HOT is approaching. That does NOT make he happy. I really hate hot.

I took a break from stuff and sat outside in the new teak stemer lounge chair in the backyard. It was a lovely moment but I had to get back to work. That's why I'm posting here. ;)

It's been a very long, frustrating day. Not as bad as Sam the McMan, but annoying.

Dimwit in Engineering: "The Office of Research promised matching funds for our telescope and we received the federal funding and we've picked out our telescope so tell me what budget number to charge it to and who can sign."

Me: "(sigh). As the award letter stated, these funds are collected through the budget office. Please contact Janis Campbell in the budget office and reference award number 260-something or other."

Dimwit: "I want to know the budget number to charge the expense."

Me: "That is not how these funds are dispersed. [because giving dimwits like you the budget number for the 7.3M matching fund isn't a wise idea] Please contact Janis in the budget office who will help you transfer the funds to one of your own budgets."

Dimwit: "Okay, but I want to order the telescope and I need a budget number. The Vice Provost promised these funds last year. Give me the budget number."

Me: [beats head on desk.]

Turned in my final and was looking forward to coming home, slipping into my jammies, and beginning my vacation.

And while I was gone today one of the cats threw up all over my jammies.

Well, I'm in total agreement with you abdou the awsomeness of the English Bulldog. I am in LOVE with this breed. So, having a street filled qith 100= bulldogs - even if they are in finery - is possibly one of the more thrillings aspects of my recent life.
