I just love that these days the BLACK DEATH is easily treatable.
I'm soooo glad I live now and not then.

An estimated 10 to 20 Americans contract plague each year, mostly in rural communities.
So, when I joke that "I Have PLAGUE" I may be correct?
People are usually surprised to learn that plague and anthrax still occur rarely in the United States.
But how would you like to be the lady's neighbors being told "oh, nothing to worry about. It isn't contagious."

I love the end of this article:Health officials said they suspect the woman was exposed by fleas in her home and that there was no cause for alarm. [snip]
Bubonic plague is believed to have been the "Black Death" that killed 25 million people in Europe between 1346 and 1351.Don't worry--it only killed 25 million people in a 5-year period.

Isn't it usually squirrells that end up as the carriers of Plague? I remember learning something about this in 7th grade before a Yosemite trip.

Rats, squirrels, ROUS's, etc.....
We have cats, including COUS's, so we're safe.

http://astro.ic.ac.uk/%7Emortlock/fun/cat.jpgHoly freaking God. If that isn't a COUS, nothing is. How does one sleep at night knowing that's in the house, waiting to smother someone?

And....now I'm thinking about the "I tried to give my cat a bath once, and the fur kept sticking to my tongue" joke. Coupled with THAT pic...dear Lord, the, ahem, kitty jokes that spring to mind!
