I am a sock snob. They have to fit and feel a certain way or I won't wear them. I used to buy my socks at Target, but they changed something and now their socks suck.

Recommend your socks to me please.

Oh ya, I'm talking about sport socks.

What can I say, I like my "Peds" - they're probably not for everyone. For thin socks, I've always loved Keds. I know... similar name... How dorky!

For a basic sport sock, I picked up a few while running into an Old Navy (not with my car! though the thought has crossed my mind...) with my sisters, and they're abso-fricking-lutely fantastic. Now, if only the dryer would stop eating them!

?????

Are you my grandmother?????

I keep all socks (and underwear as well) until they will no longer stay on my body. My wife every once in a while loses it and throws them away, forcing me to purchase new things.

Wasteful woman.

I found some thin ones that I really like. I need some regular crew socks and some ankle ones that aren't ikky. Though I suppose the thin ones I found would work as ankle socks, since they are indeed ankle length. I still need crew socks.

I loathe "dressy" socks. I wear them when I have to but I can't stand them. Dressy socks and nylons make me want to crawl out of my skin.

Hey Erica, do you want to go sock shopping? ;)

So are mine. They are really cute. But the cuteness doesn't change the fact that they make me want to crawl out of my skin.

And just to prevent anyone else from thinking I wear sport socks with dress shoes, I don't.

We can't all be fashionistas and wear the trendiest shoes with the coolest socks. ;)

Because some of us don't want to follow the trend and prefer to march to the beat of our own drum. If we all followed the trends we'd all look alike and that would be so freeking boring.

Now back to our regularly scheduled sock thread.

I'll check Target again, and maybe take a gander in the mens section. And I'll check out Old Navy (sans girls or running into the building with my car). Kohls doesn't have anything.

Thanks for the helpful suggestions!

In the vein of my shopping methods earlier, I generally have only one type of sock and I buy like 25 pairs of them. That way I never have to worry about finding matching socks.

I wear Champion socks for the most part. At some point Lani bought me a package of gray ones so those are mixed in. As they develop holes I throw them away; once I get down to a week's worth of socks I'll go out and buy a bunch more. If they're different from the ones I have I'll get rid of all the older ones.

I've never noticed socks fitting well or poorly so I'm not picky.

Socks are simply functional. I don't see them as fun or fashionable. I wear black socks with black shoes (when I must), brown socks with brown shoes (when I must), and white crew socks with anything else. Prefer bare feet.

Well thank you. I don't look at myself as a trendy dresser. I wear what is comfortable, and if it's 5 seasons old I don't care. Most of my clothes are bought on clearance at the end of the season, already out of style. I suppose needing/buying clothing would make me a trendy dresser by default since most of what is in the stores is what is in style for the season.

Yes, I shop at the Gap. At this point it's for convienance. Years ago (before you all knew me) it was my goal to one day wear Gap clothing. And now it's so easy to go in and pick up a pair of jeans without trying them on.

I like jeans, sweatshirts, t-shirts and tennies (I know, I know, such a shock! :p)

I do appriciate the compliment. I don't see you as a trend follower, but you are always dressed stylishly.

And nylon socks still make me want to crawl out of my skin.

But hey, at least my tennies are have sparkles in them ;)

The elastic that has held up your socks since the end of garters is really bad for your circulation. I always double mine over so that the elastic is at my ankle. Why do they make socks so long, anyway?

I used to wear calf-high tube socks and scrunch them down. Now I wear crew-length tube socks and scrunch them down. And then, in a real coup for me, I bought some ankle socks (the ones so short that they don't even come above the shoe) to wear when I wear shorts. I like, but am still weirded out by the feeling of open air on my ankles. Oh, and I stopped wearing socks with sandles a couple years ago.

Socks are my clothing nemisis. I have way too many, mostly black and most of the ones that aren't black are still dark. When I get up in the morning to dress it's still dark outside and my eyes haven't fully adjusted so I sometimes end up wearing socks that don't match the rest of what I am wearing. I have tried to rememdy this by creating different zones in my sock drawer - but with so many, it's still only a matter of time.

The other dilema comes at laundry time when trying to match pairs - it takes forever and I always hang on to the loan sock in anticipation of it's mates return.

Also few of my socks are "fun" - I want more fun socks

I used to buy mine at J C Penney's, but I don't like their socks anymore and I am having the same sock dilema. I am not a cool sock person at all. I wear a uniform at work and work shoes, so it must be a decent thickness because I am on my feet and constantly walk all day long. My socks MUST BE all white that MUST fit perfect.

Socks.

White athletic ones from Costco. (Not Champions, I hate the "C" on the socks.) Someone just made me buy a whole bunch last week. (I love the feel of new socks.) Anytime Joan "Ralphie" Crawford sees any holes in my socks he makes me throw them out.

I also love my thick wool socks for the winter. I also have black socks for more dressy occasions.

I can't wear the ankle cut socks with jeans/pants. It feels funny. I'll wear them with shorts.

I like the Gold Toe ankle socks (the toe isn't gold, there's just a gold stripe). I sometimes even wear them with long pants. They're comfy for walking.

Socks are my clothing nemesis.....

Amen brother!

My problem is, ohhh how can I put this delicately... MY WIFE.

If while doing laundry she finds a sock that does not pass muster, it has a hole, it's too worn, whatever, it gets tossed. Just that one sock. So now our sock sorting bin has grown out of control with what I am sure are orphaned socks. Perhaps I should catalog them all and put them up on craigslist in case anyone else has a similar problem and we can make a match. ;)

Not true! - It's just a tad more difficult, which makes them a bit more subversive. A quick flash of the ankle, and a world opens up for creative/expressive potential.

After seeing the original Bedazzeled, I knew I needed at least one pair of red socks in my possession - that was a movie that opened many sock drawers for me.

Exactly! It's such a thrill for me to be talking to someone only to see a flash of exciting sock during a leg cross. Totally changes my perception of the other person.

I have a hard time keeping track of socks, so I rarely wear them. I really like socks though. They're so comfy. It's peds if I'm wearing capris, funky cheap socks, or white crew socks with jeans. Usually the only dressy shoes I wear have open toes, so no socks there. Socks with sandals are almost the worst crime you can commit, IMO.

Well, it certainly included the 80s and early 90s. I'm trying to remember when I switched from the calf-length (I did stop wearing colored stripes by the mid-90s) to the crew length, which aren't nearly so...retro when scrunched. Probably mid-to-late 90s. I never claimed to be particularly with-it sock wise.

I'm a sock voyeur. I can't allow myself to spend more for cute socks because, like someone said above, usually no one sees them.

An old friend of mine loved buying silly patterned socks and mixing them up. It was common to catch her wearing one Halloween sock and one Xmas sock - in February. I thought that was cute and funny but again, I'm too cheap for such silliness.

I just bought another set of black work socks from Kohls (on sale of course) and they're really comfy. I also dislike many kinds of dressy socks because they use slippery fabric that doesn't breathe (polyester? idunno) that makes for an unstable shoe. This is especially annoying with a heel. These Kohls ones are a nice blend. Can't remember the brand.

White basic cheap-o socks for sneakers. I dig the super short socks these days.

Thank God GD doesn't wear the socks and sandals any more. That was pretty bad. :p
