What's your Rising Sign (http://www.blogthings.com/risingsigns/)?
I'm a Pisces born between 8-10pm at night.
Your Rising Sign is Scorpio
You're so intense and passionate - you're on fire!
You want to be an angel or a devil... you can't decide which.
No wonder you seem moody and even a little dangerous.
You've got some major mystery going on, so work it!
Your personality is the strongest of all signs, making you hard to deal with.
While you're ruthless to your enemies, you're loyal to your one true love.
Sounds about right to me.

Pisces..... Born at 2pm... so which do I pick? I guess the one before, since I was in the act of being born.
Your Rising Sign is Cancer
You are compassionate and kind - and the one who gives security.
And while you sometimes tire of it, people always turn to you for advice.
Emotions are your domain, and you use tend to use them for good.
But you've also been know to be very manipulative when you need to be.
You're quite loyal to those you love most - friends and family.
For everyone else, you tend take time to build up trust.

What exactly is the meaning of a "rising sign"? I did it anyway.
Scorpio, born between 2 and 4 am.
"Your Rising Sign is Libra
A total charmer, it's hard for people to say no to you.
Irresistable and attractive, you have no shortage of love interests.
Totally competitive, you tend to thrive in stressful enviroments.
A peaceful soul, you avoid conflict at almost all costs.
Sometimes you try too hard to please those around you.
But you have a great inner strength that helps you bounce back easily."
Not very descriptive of me. I would say only two of those lines are even remotely descriptive of me.

Virgo... Born at 5AM... Rising sign is Virgo
Well put-together and elegant, you sometimes seem standoffish.
And truth be told, sometimes you do feel superior to those around you.
A bit shy and introverted, you tend to stay quiet - even if you're feeling social.
At parties, you can seem like you're very serious while you're having fun.
You clever and ingenious, with an alert and active mind.
Good at facts and figures, you excel at logical and mathematical tasks.
So not me... I've never been accused of being "well put-together and elegant"

I'm a Taurus born at 6:15AM. My rising sign is Gemini...
------
You often feel torn between two dominant personalities.
Sometimes you're adaptable and friendly; other times indecisive and unsure.
No matter what, you're the life of the party or conversation.
Witty and talkative, you entertain with your stories and gossip.
It's a bit difficult for you to finish what you start - jobs, friendships, relationships...
There's so much you want to try. You often bite off more than you can chew.
-------
Wow, not even close.

I'm told your rising sign is somewhat more important that your "ordinary" sign. I'm cancer both ways. An uber-cancer, if you will. And so true.
I would find it absurd to put any credence in astrology .... until I looked around at all the people I know and found it beyond the likely realm of coincidence how many of their notable traits were related to their zodiac sign.
(Admittedly, I don't know anyone's rising sign ... so I can't judge the credibility of that influence. Apparently it has no bearing on the personality of Ghoulish Delight.)

I certainly can't disprove the notion, although my own experience leads me to a different conclusion. I have never been able to find a meaningful correlation. (For one thing, the personality descriptions on horoscopes aren't consistent from one astrologer to another, and there is so much wiggle room in any of them, it's a virtual certainly that everyone will fit at least a few adjectives for any sign, selected at random.)
I suspect that the real engine driving belief in astrology is that most common of rational pitfalls, Confirmation Bias. (We remember the hits and forget or dismiss the misses.) But, that could just be a trait of my skeptical Aries nature. (Are Aries supposed to be skeptics? I have no idea.)
I agree with the "it's all just in fun" attitude toward the zodiac, up to a point. I have run into people who actually make judgements and have biases and prejudices based on what sign others are, and that really drains the fun out of things very quickly. The last thing we all need is another excuse for passing judgements and making assumptions about others.
I don't know what time of day I was born, so I think I'll just scout all the rising signs until I find one that makes me out to be a real tiger. Grrrowl!;)

Except you're more fabulous, m'dear. :)
Ralphie's decription and mine are right on the money. I just sent him his and he agreed.
Ralphie's a Libra, Capricorn Rising.
Old fashioned and conservative, you carry yourself with dignity.
You have a tough exterior, and you can be intimidating when you want to be.
Hard working and ambitious, you can survive in the most cut throat work enviroments.
Outside of work, you are a true friend to everyone in your small inner circle.
You may have had a difficult time earlier in life.
Capricorns are late bloomers and you may be coming into your own right now.

Your Rising Sign is Taurus
You are the ultimate rock - stable and centered.
People turn to you in crisis and count on you for calm.
Stubborn and strong minded, you can't be pushed around.
You are also tenacious, and you always will stick with something difficult.
A bit fan of nature, you're attracted to the beauty of the outdoors.
And sometimes, you find it easier to relate to animals than people.
Wow..it explains me to an absolute "T", actually.
I'm strong-willed, hard-headed, everything in my life is usually the difficult path, and God willing, truth be told, I'd choose a bunny over some a-hole. It's the PETA in me. ;)

Taurus, between 2 and 4 am
You're full of energy - and people look to you to get the party started.
Confident and honest, you'll be the one to say what everyone is thinking.
You are easily bored, and you always find unique ways to do things.
You don't just dream it, you do it. And that's why you're so successful.
Too intense for some, often times people are intimidated by you.
But you're usually smart enough to charm them anyway!

Hmm, I'd say mostly correct. It describes me at work more than at home, where I become a lazy uninspiring couch potato.

This is actually incorrect, and I wish I knew how to explain this better - I just only half paid attention to something that's a big part of my life.
One side of my family has been into astrology, etc for years and years and years. My chart was made within half an hour of my birth. I'm a Saggitarius rising. The site makes me a Taurus rising. /shrug I have a poster sized chart, as well as a little book, along with handwritings, etc. It's crazy, I know.. if only I could tell you the stories that came of this (maybe this is a good jumping point for some writing once I'm done with finals).
On a personal level, I find most websites to have super vague descriptions that can cover almost anyone, or at least we can all see a bit of ourselves in it. Anyone even willing to look into this is introspective enough for that.
The website doesn't ask questions that are very important; well, mainly "Where the hell were you born?" as it plays a role.
Not that it really matters, just thought y'all should know.

Sagittarius, born 9:07PM
Your Rising Sign is Leo
You are confident, self-assured, and more than a little vain.
And you have a flair for the dramatic - whether you're on stage or causing trouble.
Your spirit can't stay in one place very long.
You like to live in new places and travel the world.
Cultured and sophisticated, you pride yourself on having good taste.
You are an expert in art, music, food, and film.
I'm so vain, I think this horoscope is about me. (I've had my chart "done" and even factoring the location I'm the same - fire sign with fire sign rising. And grand trines, whatever they are.)

I was raised by an astrologist mom and everything related to where the hell the planets were aligned at any given time. Car broke down? Mercury is retrograde, that's why! Billy Bob and Cissy broke up? Well, sheesh- everyone knows a Leo and a Scorpio are a bad match! Erica, I'd love to hear some of your stories- I've a few as well. I think astrology can be fun, but when you're scheduling life events around the planetary alignment it's a PITA. ( I'm sure the Reagans' employees would agree).

By the way, do you pronounce Gemini like GEM IN EYE (most common) or like the astronauts pronounced it during the Gemini missions - (JEM-uh-nee) The second sounds a lot more like Jiminy, hence lends itself to the pun more readily.

I don't know really. I never really say my username out loud very much. The idea came observing my German friend Axel who pronounces 'Gemini' like JEM-uh-nee. We were looking at a telescope called 'Gemini' on top of Mauna Kea on the Big Island. I told him that it sounded like he kept saying 'Jiminy'... :D

I'm a Leo, and I'm married to a Leo. We do have issues related to what our signs typically represent- leadership, selfishness, materialistic leanings, etc. The main prob is that I'm not like most Leo's- my mom says my Pisces moon cancels out my Leonine tendancy to be materialistic and makes me value the spiritual side of life more. I can't say that she's right as to the reason but I don't seem to follow the norm with regards to Leo behavior, excepting the big hair, of course.:D
(If I were a true Leo, I might tolerate my spouse's behavior better, although I suspect we'd be in the poorhouse).

I'm trying to figure out how it got mine wrong, then... Oh well..
I know they made business decisions around it, and strangely were successful (I could speak of the effects of just believing something doing well and self-fulfillment). I remember my great aunt telling me that when she married my uncle JB, she told him they'd be together 29 years (she died shortly after their 29th anniversary - about a year or so after she told me this). She asked my mom one fine February day if she was pregnant, which according to the doctors wasn't supposed to be a possibility, and lo a doctor's appointment three weeks later showed that she was. Weird stuff. I don't know if I register an opinion on it all. My brain says one thing, my gut is a little freaked out by the rest.

I am a Pisces (which fits me better than my rising sign, I think) born at 5:29 PM.
Virgo: Well put-together and elegant, you sometimes seem standoffish.

Whether it's astrology or not, there's something about where and when you were born. I have a book that predicts traits and life courses based on your birth date, but not necessarily astrology. I used to give everyone I knew the pages that related to them as a birthday gift, and I'd ask them to evaluate the evaluation.
Roughly 50% of people in this highly scientific sampling said the descriptions were spot on. But the thing that has me convinced is that my description in the book is dead-on accurate, and my best friend's is also dead-on right for her, but completely different than mine. We are born one day apart.
