Right at this moment, as I sit here in my huge baggy sweats and fear the chilly air that is awaiting me outdoors, Alisa (http://www.xenarchy.com/LoT/member.php?u=62) is in Hawaii on a nearly all expense paid trip living it up and having a blast. No responsibilities, no worries. Just her and a few friends runny around causing havoc, I'm sure.
I love her to death. She's my evil twin! My best (REAL) friend! A pal and a confidant! She is what makes me smockin! But damn, I'm so jealous right now!
Ok, other than the fact that if I were in Hawaii I wouldn't be seeing my kids tomorrow... BUT STILL! It's a frikken practically free trip to Hawaii in the dead of winter. I mean, c'mon, who wouldn't be jealous?
Anyone you envy at the moment?

I envy my married friends in SD that just bought a beatiful BRAND NEW townhome. Their street is still dirt, the houses down the street are still skeletal. The place is beautiful. The exterior is actually something I like, good colors, nice brick work, wrought-iron accents. She's an artist so the place is also tastefully decorated on the inside. They got married four months after we did and now they have a real home, not just another transitory place. Two car garage, sprinkler system, brand new appliances, you name it.
Man, I am so jealous.

Hmmmm. Hard question. There are a lot of people I DON'T envy, but I'm not sure there is anyone I really do envy right now. I admire a lot of people that I feel have made great choices in their life and I use them a role models, but I don't really envy them. I guess I am failry content that things are just the way they are supposed to be in my life at the moment and I really don't want the things other people have - good or bad. It's a strange, but nice place to be.

Rachel Ray, host of Food Network's "$40.00 a Day". She has the coolest job ever.
She also comes across as one very cool kitten. I just love her! :)
I don't really envy her, I just want to be one of her good friends. ;)
Edited to add: I'm in agreement with NA. I would call it admiration, rather than envy. I love being me, me, me!! :D I'm very happy with my life.

Or the lady on the Travel Channel who gets to travel around the country and rate different hotels. That would be fun.

Honestly, my new favorite band The Ditty Bops. If I were musical and every bit as artistic as I once hoped to be, I'd want to be one of the girls in this band. Their lovely ragtime/bandstand/indy melodious sound...their style...their sense of fun. I like everything about them. Especially the carnivale-esque nature of their act, it seems. Vaudeville!
I envy The Ditty Bops for being the imaginary me inside my head, dammit.

I greatly admire Idina Menzel. She's incredibly beautiful, wonderfully talented, and married to a talented hottie like Taye Diggs. Must be nice. Happy is what happens when all your dreams come true. ;) She's now filming Rent. Must be nice. :)

Oh, I don't want to be Alisa at any other time but this vacation. Let's clarify that.
Not that I don't think she's amazing.... But I've FINALLY gotten to this point in my life where I have confidence and while things are rough I'm happy with where my life is at for the most part.
But yeah, if I could be Alisa for the weekend, this weekend, I'd be ok with that.

To all who say they don't want to be someone else: I agree. I don't want to BE my friends in SD. I just envy their home. I love my life and am truly happy to be me.
C'mon, don't tell me you don't envy anyone, ever. :)

Yeah, it's okay to be you and me. Free to be you and me!
Heh.
I do like being me. The thing about my mentioned envy? I have daydreamed about being in a traveling vaudeville act, singing and dancing and swallowing swords. Escape artistry. Magic. Blah, blah, blah. The costumes. And then along comes a band that is the embodiment of this little daydream of mine. Just about floored me. I was listening to them yesterday and imagining how I'd dress if I were performing the music. Went to their website and they were wearing pretty much my daydream garb.
Freaky.
If it isn't me, though, at least some girls are out there doing it. Very happy.

I don't envy any one or small group of person(s) but I do aspire to develop some of the qualities I see in others.
For example (and this is NOT a blatant ploy for mojo, so don't)
NA
Happily married, with a husband that obviously cares a lot about her. Maybe it'll happen for me one day. I haven't given up.
Optimistic, even with some of hard blows she's had dealt to her lately
Respected by her peers - I mean, come on, have you ever seen the majority of a message board just up and leave because one person was so mistreated? I haven't. Or I should say, I hadn't until a few months ago.
Those are the kinds of qualities I envy (or aspire to) when I see them in other people.
I could name many people on this board possessing qualities that bring out this kind of response in me.
But for me, it never approaches that green eyed kind of envy either.

Okay. I do have to say, just yesterday, I was watching Oprah and how she has her favorite places to eat, blah blah blah. She found these, I think it was squash? Either way, she liked them and that was that. She has them.
That I envy. I would like to say 'Hmm...I like that, send it to me.' 'Ooo, give me two of those.'
Samantha Brown!! I SO envy her! I want her job!! I don't want the other persons job, she does the same type of thing but just not in the same type of places. And, she is funny.
I envy people who can play the guitar and sing. I sing but not in the tone anyone would care to hear.
I dream of painting. I wish I could fly like a bird.
I envy the people who remember all of the things you need to know to take really awesome photos.
I envy a few other peoples life bonus' but I can't put them down here... ;)

While I would like to say that there is nobody that I envy, it isn't entirely true. There is a level of musicianship inherent in some of the greatest jazz artists that I long for.
Improvisation is what really makes music come alive for me, whether it be playing music or listening to it. There is nothing I love more than to hear someone with such a command of their instrument that they can take it in any direction they wish on a whim. Sometimes it's as if the music is being channeled through them from a higher source and they are just a middleman. Certain artists, such as Charlie Parker or Chick Corea or James Jamerson wouldn't, couldn't, ever play something the exact same way twice. That would go against everything they were about.
When I have the priviledge of hearing a musician do this at the level that these guys do, I can't help but enviously wish to experience what it would be like to hear and play music with that level of understanding.

I envy the me I am in my dreams. Even when I'm having the crappiest dream ever, the me in my dreams is always cooler/thinner/thinks of wittier remarks. The waking me never lives up to my expectations.

Ah envy, one of my seven favorite sins.
Right now I envy every preson who hasn't been at work for 11 hours and is staring down the barrel of two more hours. Also, I currently envy all those who got more than 3 hours sleep last night.
I envy people who own their own home.
There's more, but it's hard to form sentences due to the aformentioned lack of sleep problem.....and it's not even lack of sleep for a fun reason....I was up late working on a paper.
