I've been inspired to start decorating with frames. I need frames, and lots of them. The size I'm looking for is 40x40. I'm looking for other sizes too but those seem more standard.

I think I'd like plain frames so I can paint them, but decorated frames are nice too.

Does anyone have experience buying frames? Cheap is good.

40x40 is standard? what are you putting in the frames, canvas art?
To me, standard is 8x10, 11x14 and 16x20, but I deal in photos mostly.
I love to do my own framing, and I purchase antique frames whenever possible. But that is beacause I deal in vintage photos, both ends can be expensive.

Framing in and of itself can be a horribly expensive thing to do. Depends on what you are framing and how much protection you want/need.

Although I can recommend that some framers will have some dicount frames available which they make from scrapped or extra mouldings. Rarely in such a size.

So, I know I have not answered your question....

I mean the other sizes are standard and I won't have a problem finding them. I'm looking for 40x40 to frame some t-shirts.

I am going to the Buffalo Exchange today. But I don't think they have frames.

Places like Big Lots often have basic sorts of frames for cheap.

IKEA is a good choice for frames too.

Places like Aaron Brothers or other frame stores actually have a very good selection of standard-size premade frames for relatively little ($10-$30, cheaper if you wait for their buy-one-get-one sales). We were able to find a couple for our Shag framing project there.

If you have Michael's I've seen frames there in many sizes. It's a craft store by the way.

Thank you for the suggestions. I'll check out both Aaron Brothers and Michaels as well as another craft store near me.

You might want to check out Dick Blick (http://www.dickblick.com/), they seem to have sales on frames from time to time.

Ugh, I need to get my authentic, ripped-from-Disneyland-itself, gigantoidly HuGe Adventure thru Inner Space attraction poster framed ... and it's got to be like an amazing frame for this amazing piece.

And did I mention HuGe?!

And did I forget to mention that it needs museum-quality, sun-damage resistant glass?

Small Fortune Frame Job. Ugh.

40x40 for a T-shirt? Have you gained a lot of weight lately?

No. I'm trying to replicate a frame that I saw somewhere else. The measurements were 40x40.

And when I said 40x40 I meant 12x12. I have no idea where the 40x40 came from. Can some nice admin change my earlier posts for me?

Thanks

You might want to check out Dick Blick (http://www.dickblick.com/)
Is this link safe for work? :D

I say check out some thrift stores. Often they have huge framed posters for sale in some really nice frames. Since the picture stinks, they sell the whole kit-n-kaboodle for a really low price.

Or you could date someone who works in a custom framing store. Often, they get minorly damaged molding in from their vendors and they throw it away. The guy you date could hook you up.

Or you could steal. But I wouldn't recommend it.

What size is an LP? I THINK I've seen frames for them at Michael's.

And someone I know who works at Michael's said she thought there was an extra big sale starting tomorrow - just based on the hours she was scheduled for, so might not be real.
