My favorite bird is the red cardinal. I don't know why, it has always been so since I was a kid. Love how bright they are. Very pretty.

I stepped out onto my back porch to see one at eye level sitting on a fence. It sat chirping at me. I think that's good juju for me. So very pretty. I wished I had a camera. Bright red.
I finally got pictures of him yesterday. His name is Ramón. Why Ramón? Well, it's a long story... :D

I wouldn't mind them except they make a huge mess, and once they've nested there they'll keep coming back. And they pratically attack you when you go out on the balcony. Not to mention the cooing makes me absolutely bonkers.

Yeah, we had mourning doves on our balcony for a couple years in a row. It was cute for a while, but annoying, especially since they nest in my plants so I can't water them while they're there.

There were a few house hunters checking out the porch this season but none of them stayed due to lack of nesting spots :)

We have a pair of doves, I think they nested in our neighbors yard. we also have a gorgeous blue jay in one of our trees. He is a pretty bold sucker. My fav though, is a robin. I talk to him and he cocks his head and talks back.

The doves play "tag" with our neighbor's dachsund. They really are playing a game. It is fun to watch.

Poohdog doesn't acknowledge the birds, but should a cat dare enter HIS yard, it is on.

I used to to stake my plants when I lived in LA, tons of doves. These are trying to nest up in the rafters of the balcony. I'm trying to figure out a way to block of the area so they can't get in there.

I have a pair of pidgeons trying to build a nest on my front awning. the far-too-steep angle just keeps pissing them off I think. I find a stack of sticks nearly every day on the stairs below it that obviously they're bringing in, setting down and watching them slide off.

geez, pidgeons are dumb. :p they seem to have zero sense of physics.

What about getting a plastic owl or a rubber snake. Both seem to work. The snake kept birds from eating our apricots when I was a kid.

The Old People have a hanging owl on their patio. It worked pretty good for the first 2 years, but then the doves got wise and tried to build on top of it.

There's a crazy cardinal that lives near my parents' house. It attacks my car's side mirrors thinking there's another bird in there. I have to remember to fold my mirrors in every time I go to visit them.
