OK, so I finally decided to get serious about paring down my unwieldly collection of media. Since Friday, I've put 70 CDs on eBay, and I plan on putting 20 more up a day for a while.
I also decided to put some of my vinyl collection - particularly my 7" collection. Before I dive into the boxes and start getting rid of something that one of my friends might want, I figured I'd throw it out to you all.
Is there anyone out there with a vinyl wish? I know some of you come from a similar musical background as I (I'm thinking NA and Flippyshark in particular). The Rev. Horton Heat colored vinyl Sub-Pop single? Some weird 4AD release?
I've got a couple thousand slabs o' plastic here so lemme know if I can make your punk/indie/new wave dreams come true...

I didn't even realize that DCD released any 7"s - I already put up a promo-only CD comp that has "The Carnival is Over" on it... I'll see if I have anything else...

I actually have a wee tiny vinyl collection. I have a fondness for Sub Pop given where I've lived most of my life. Part of my motivation is collecting things I wasn't allowed to listen to growing up.
Don't suppose you ever made a catalog of your collection?

Nope, I have too many things and not enough time. Speaking of Sub Pop - I was surprised to see that the first Nirvana single recently sold for over $3000 - last time I checked it was going for less than $400. I think that one might have to go...

Vinyl has become extremely collectible. Many people gleefully disposed of their collections in the trash can when the digital age hit.
I held onto a lot of vinyl (somewhere I have rare 7" four-song EP of "Teenage Enema Nurses in Bondage"), though it sounds nothing like 'Pods collection.

I have a pretty good David Bowie collection that I have yet to part with.

All Bowie goes to me, TYVM. ;)
I don't know what I don't have that I need. Considering my original vinyl is currently unaccessable in deep storage......

omg, you're raiding the vault?!
I'd request something, but I neither have room to store it, nor the technology to listen to it.

I love vinyl. I need a new needle. I have lots and lots of sixties and seventies stuff that I inherited, and when my grandfather dies I'll have lots of 40's and 50's stuff as well (I'm not hoping for that at all, just saying). I've only recently started building my indie vinyl collection, so far I only have a few Modest Mouses. Here's my long list of things I'll eventually buy on vinyl.
Anything:
Modest Mouse (except Everywhere and his Nasty Parlor Tricks and Moon and Antarctica)
Bright Eyes
Iron and Wine
Band of Horses
Pedro the Lion
Elliot Smith
Low
Flaming Lips
Pixies
Dead Kennedys
Smashing Pumpkins (old, or James Iha side projects)
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Ugly Casanova
Walkmen
I wish more people appreciated vinyl. It's a totally different sound than listening to music on a digital player. So much warmer. I'll listen to my ipod all the live long day as background, but listening to the same music on vinyl is an experience unto itself.

That's so nice of you to say. Nope, grabbed it in 8th grade when I was 12...
(btw, I'll be celebrating my 40th birthday at EPCOT at the end of August. Hope to see one or two of you there)

Wow, you were buying good music at a very young age. I think at 12 I was listening to Another Bad Creation.
ABC, BBD the east coast family! I cannot believe I still know the words to that Boyz 2 Men song!

Okay having seen how vast your collection is, I first have a few curiosities if by any chance you ever picked up vinyl from people I used to know:
Children's Day
DIN
The Cambridge Apostles
I think they all at least had EPs out at one time or another.
Now that I think about it, I might be interested in anything you have on the Dangerhouse Label
Oh Jeez, this really make me want to clean our garage...

Just an eBay update: I've been selling stuff for a month, and I have already more than paid for my 10-day parkhopper. The biggest ticket so far was a rare Beastie Boys 7" for $99. NA and €uro will be here this weekend, so they get to be first to raid the vinyl vault.
Oh... and WDW 5 weeks from today. Hope to see as many LoTers as possible.

Well, the link for my stuff is here (http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQfgtpZ1QQfrppZ25QQsassZiQ2dchihuahua)...
...but the point of the thread was to give stuff to my friends before I sold it on eBay.
So maybe what I'll do in the future is post a list of things I'm planning on putting up before I actually do it.

Having looked at the list on eBay right now - I'll throw in a pretty please for next time.

Sorry, Moonliner - I actually did have an extra copy of ABBA GOLD on CD, but I sold it last year. Laugh if you must, but I still listen to my original copy often. In fact, whenever I get a text message on my Treo, it plays "S.O.S.".
By the way, if you plan on coming to WDW next month to celebrate my birthday and were at a loss for an appropriate gift, I'd love this (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000ATD8BY/sr=8-3/qid=1153492670/ref=pd_bbs_3/104-2292688-3829556?ie=UTF8).;)

Funny you should mention that... (http://www.loungeoftomorrow.com/LoT/showpost.php?p=85157&postcount=3)
Sorry I won't be able to attend the grand 40th... However I would be happy to text message you 30 or 40 times during your stay at WDW so you will always have AbbA in your ears and heart.

Wow, that's swank! I can't belive someone is making new technology for the old vinyl! I'm with GD, I no longer have the equipment (to play my records, that is! )
And that thing next to it.... What's a $2,800 dicklicker for?
