Aaron Spelling Dead at 83 (http://news.yahoo.com/s/eo/20060624/en_celeb_eo/19352)

Say what you want but this man was behind much of the TV I watched growing up - Charlies Angels, Love Boat, Hart to Hart, The Mod Squad, Melrose Place. A real Hollywood legend.

This article snuck in under the radar last night. I noticed it when I got home at 10pm. Interesting how we never heard he had a stroke last week.
I think the family may have seen this coming.

That aside...

Rest well Aaron. You rose from a situation not many could have. Your determination should be a lesson for us all.

:(

The Love Boat had a profound influence on my life (as my avatar may attest.) My personality is very Julie McCoy in real life.

He brought happiness, escapism and entertainment to many.

He was truly a major influence - if not the major influence - of modern television.

Not to be snarky, but i wonder if this means his somewhat less than talented daughter will not get roles any longer.....not that she's had much to do recently.

Having met him a few times back in the 90s, I must say he was really a wonderful guy - it's a shame what his daughter has turned into...

What a day...

Spelling died, JonBenet Ramsey's mother died and Harriet (Charles Darwin's tortoise) died at the age of 176!

That IS quite a threesome. I heard about the stroke.

Thank you Aaron for all the wonderful and sometimes cheesy escapist entertainment.

I believe she has a show on VH1 called So Notorious
