I was witness to this! We almost missed the last Space Mountain ride because of that hat....

And I couldn't get them to put Madz instead of Madison on her pirate ears. Also why does it take them so long to do the computer ones, it takes like 5x as long per set of ears it seems.

I find that the computer ones are easier to read, but the hand ones make them all a little different and more personalised. To me it didn't matter much. But are they taking the stand of no nick names like on the badges? Certainly they can't stick with only names in a data base can they? With all of the tourists from all over the world, not to mention unusual spellings of common names! I love your hat HBT! Long time no see, BTW!

We were totally shocked that she was able to get it- all of it- sewn on the hat. It was fun watching- we 'hid' in the doorway and iSm gave us a play-by-play on the happening. When we finally did get to the ride, we were almost about to get on when it went 101. We had to flip BTD crap about missing the ride (because it was midnite and unlikely they would start it back up) over her hat, but luckily they got Space going again. :)

She had it all typed in as Madz, then asked me if it was a proper name - umm yea sure. Then she got kinda bitchy about it. I do have a regular mickey ears with Madz from a while ago. I think it's just who you get.

I think the main secret to getting something other than the norm on ears or nametags is to approach them when no one else (guests or employees) are around, talk quietly and tell them you know they probably can't but if they could it would really make your day.

I'm not sure if my eyelash batting and hair twirling helped any, but it sure didn't hurt.

I also promised to not tell anyone what store I got them from, what day I got them, who made them for me, or wear them that day.

And Hi RStar! Good to see you here!

Not Afraid

I have NotAfraid, OldHag and Hag on gold name tags (The Hag(s) were for Gay Day), NotAfraid on an old red name tag and NotAfraid Mouse Ears. It is possible, but you have to work it.

Cool! I only tried once, nicely, but was turned down. I'm sure it depends on the CM and conditions like above. I'll try again!

Thanks!

The best hat writing story I have is from Walt Disney World. As some of you know, Lani likes her Stitch and frequently has one with her at the parks and they are frequently dressed appropriately as well (the Disneyland Host outfit was quite popular among Disneyland Hosts).

She has a small set of Mickey Ears that fits her backpack Stitch perfectly and this is what she had with us on one of our trips out there. I walked into one of the hat stores, and said "I know you probably can't but we were wondering if there was any way to get this embroidered."

Technically not allowed but it became a whole store activity. She went into the back and fetched their best stitcher (har har) and he practiced for a little while on some cloth (since this hat is so small he really wasn't used to it) and then did it perfectly.

Completely made Lani's trip.

It's too bad too, because the chances of that happening in the machine only future is probably not possible no matter how much the staff would like to help.

That's an awesome story Alex!

Exactally, which is why I made a point to get it done while I was thinking about it. I also have HB Tigger Fan on a name tag. I want BarTopDancer on a name tag as well but that's a bit difficult.
