Road Trip! I'm off on a road trip this weekend and need some swanky tunes for the trip.

I'll start with "On the road again" and end with "Radar Love", those two are traditional for road trip cd's.... but what should I put in the middle?

To qualify a song MUST have at least a tenuous link to travel. Roads, trains, planes, etc... and this is a casino trip so songs about gambling (as long as they are not by Kenny Rogers) would qualify also.

Extra points for songs by skivvy punk bands I've never heard of, I'm travleing with my brother and that's the kind of thing he's into..

Baba O'Riley by The Who. Only because the noises used in that song always remind me of slot machines.

That works. From the Who, I'll also add "I can see for Miles"

Of course! Hell with Elvis, zz top, Springsteen, Billy Swan, King junior, etc... you could just about fill a cd with various versions of just that song.

Road Movie to Berlin - TMBGAs much as I love TMBG, and although this fits the theme, I wouldn't put it on a road-trip mix. You'll drive too slowly.

It's for when you get off the freeway and have trouble adjusting to arterial speed! (Velocitization, my driver's ed teacher said...)

Here's one probably no one here knows -
Frank - The W's

Not really about a road trip per se, as much as running people over.

Frank was a contractor, who got up every morning.
Skin'n cats and fix'n cars, his day was far from boring.
Souped up Ford, V-8 289, running down those punks was always on his mind.

Frank was a contractor.
Is he after you?

So...if you are planning on running anyone over, this works.

"The World of Tomorrow" from the Magic Skyway is great for frantic highway driving.

I'm forgetting the song, but the lyrics are...

"from Phoenix Arizona all the way to Tacoma, Philadelphia, Atlanta, LA..."

But my "road trip" songs are chosen because they sound good on the Road. Like "Ooh La La" by the Ditty Bops, and "If You Want to Sing Out, Sing Out," by Cat Stevens.
