I almost ran over a dog pulling into my driveway this morning. I rescued him from further danger but now he's in my backyard and I can't keep a dog. I'm sure he loves somewhere around here, but, if this is the same dog I've seen running lose before, the owners are irresponsible idiots. I've called the Chi rescue but haven't gotten a response yet. I just can't turn him lose to get killed.
I'm in a quandry here.

That little rat dog probably is more at risk from the evil cat lady's evil cats than from a Rott.

Lisa, I say wait until the Chihuahua Rescue place gets back to you. Does he have tags?

You're mean. Surely you don't want to deny the kitties an opportunity to have a live toy.

If we had a house with a yard, we'd take him in a heartbeat!!!! I want him. :(

He reminds me of a miniature version of Woody, my sis's dog. Cutest dog on the block, and tons of personality. She rescued him as well, and just loves him to pieces.

Cute, but unhappy - he whined most of the night and pawed at our back gate. At 6:30 Am I took him for a walk to see if he just didn't want to go potty in the back yard. I let him lead me and he seemed very interested in a house in the next block, if it were later in the day I would have knocked to see if he lived there. He didn't want to go back to our place at all. Perhaps I'll take him for another walk when it's a more reasonable hour.
And how did I end up dog sitting?

Poor little puppy! He's scared to death of all of the booms and whistles. I feel so sorry for him, but there's not much I can do. I went out and spent sime time with him reassuring him, but everything's so new, he's probably terrified.
He's breaking my heart! :(

Yet another reason I wish I was back in CA. Although, I think Frodo and this chihuahua would fight. They are both bossy breeds. Not to mention, I think Frodo would mark the sh!t out of our apt.
No word back yet from the Chihuahua rescue, NA?

Because you're a gem.
I'm very curious to know if he lives on that other block.... waiting for news

He's still in our yard. Poor little thing. I really think he's a Chioxxie - or something. He's a mutt, but a cute one. This weekend was NOT the time to find a foster for him. My boss is going to give me some leads today, but I'm slammed with appopintments and dog walks. UGH!

hmmm......well he's definitely got the right look. looks to be right between sizes for my two hunds.
can we get a few more shots of him? thats a dynamite shot, but I'd love to see more. profiles and such. maybe stick a phonebook next to him for scale?
fairly tall chi legs or short dox legs?
dox body?
is he fixed?
house trained?
have you had him checked for an ID chip?
is he yappy? or otherwise annoying?
I know you probably answered all these in previous posts, but havent read back. just saw the pic and he caught my interest.

Here are more pics:
http://photos.xenarchy.com/thumbnails.php?album=45
He appears to be fixed.
He's not yappy, but he has been whiney at times. He's lonely and wants to come into the house but the cats say otherwise.
He LOVES to walk and will go potty when you walk him.
He needs a bath and has feas at the moment
I haven't checked him for a chip, but considering his overalal condition, I really doubt he is chipped. I may take him for a bath and get him checked for a cip laer today or tomorrow.
He's a sweetheart. He jumps into my lap and settles down. He's a really sweet dog - and I have a lot to compare to.

He looks like a chihuahua/daschund (sp?). He's a nice looking dog.

I've heard him bark twice. He's not yappy at all. He's just whining a lot, but I don't blame him at all. He was much better last night and slept quietly through the night after the booms stopped.
I'm trying not to get attached.
But, he needs a home - and soon.

If you don't have any luck I'm sure some Humane Society would take him in for you. You just have to do a little foot work though!
I'd love to have him but I just can't deal with a dog right now. He's just too adorable. I'll put an email out to my friends and see if anyone knows anyone who may want him.

Good News! One of my fellow pet sitters is going to take him - at least for now. She's got 2 other dogs and he will get lots of attention. At least he won't be living by himslef in my backyard.

I AM SO PISSED OFF RIGHT NOW!
I gave the dog and bath and was sitting out in the sun by the front yard so he could dry off. I got all of the fleas off of him and he was clean for once. Some people drove up and said, "You found my dog" and were pissed at me for having him. I told him I've had him fof 4 days and I almost ran over him. I told them next time I see him out, I'm taking him to a shelter. These people are too irresponsible to have a dog. Her reply to me was "He would've been home my now if you hadn't had him". Well, if your dog had had tags, he would'n't have been at my house! STUPID PEOPLE!

Cretins - I think the little pup would have fared better in the pound. Perhaps his owners will at least get the boy tags if they want to continue to let him roam the neighborhood. No doubt, they are telling tales of dogknappings since they obviously take no responsibility for anything. Sheesh.

I'm glad you told them that you'd send him to the shelter if he got out again. What a bunch of dinglecheeses. He may be back. If he gets loose again, he'll most likely find you. He knows where the lovin' is. :)
I'm sorry they are such buttheads. They don't deserve such a cute doggie. Hopefully they'll be more responsible.
What a cool foster mommy you were, NA. Good for you. We need more compassionate people like you in the world.
:)
awwww you rock Lisa....too bad the jerks found him before you could find him a new loving family :( but I agree, he gets out again he's gona show up on your doorstep!

We often think that people should have to have a degree and/or license to have children, why not the same for pets? City licenses just mean you have a pet, not that you can take care of it.

Not sure I'm happy the dog was found by his owners or not. They certainly seem to be lacking in the brain cell department. They are so lucky that someone had the heart to protect this little guy who easily could have been run over or munched. I would have been sooo grateful that someone made the effort to care for my dog.
You did a wonderful thing, Lisa. Don't let these idiots get to you.
