Very cool Podcast. Your story about the merch event was amazing. That'll definitely show non-Disney geeks part of the reason we love Disney so much. I can't believe they refunded your entire ticket! And it's good to hear that that occured in 2000, during Pressler's evil reign.
I loved that you included the Hawaiian War Chant from the Tiki Room. It is one of my favorite pieces. A long time ago and far away (at another board) I once started a thread asking if anyone knew what the lyrics meant. No one did, so I went on a search to find out what the deal was. Apparently it's all gobbledygook, was a hit back in the swing era, and not written by Disney. When it was included in the Tiki Room it was instantly recognizable by the general public. Yet more proof that Disney has always used popular icons in its works. (I'm sure a music Disney geek like you knew all that already, but anyway.) :)
Just before the TR went down for rehab we had a wonderful meet complete with hawaiian shirts and leis. I printed up copies of the War Chant lyrics so we could all sing along. I got pretty good at singing them too. :)

oh, and you have a lovely voice CP! that was crazy, trying to keep up with those lyrics, in the dark. heehee, except for some dim cell phone lighting.
ahh, good times.

I'm glad you enjoyed MP#5.
With all the talk of the TR, I should share with you an experience we had at the TR in TDL in Thanksgiving '03.
When we went to the TR, we were among the only people there (big surprise), but in addition to the entertainment from the audio-animatronic actors, there was an extremely animated CM who danced and clapped through the entire show. It's rare to have a live cheerleader at a Disney attraction - it started out mildly annoying, but once we got into the spirit, it was a ton of fun.

You don't? How might one do so, sans Ipod?:D

Dances along, acts insane...gotta love it. :D
BTW, anyone know if he's still working Tiki? Wasn't he stuck on Main Street duty or something?

If Tiki was open, he'd be working. He's got Adventureland/MS duty which means those attractions in which he's trained there - Jungle, Tiki, Lincoln and Parade/Crowd. He's not trained on Indy, MS vehicles or Trains.

He made such an impression on me at the HM years ago. What a cool guy.

The sad thing is, he won't be doing HM again with the new "Landed" assignments. I know he's discouraged by it. I hope he finds something more fulfilling.

I'm catching up on my listening and "suffered" ;) through Hawaii #4 and laughed my patooti off over the cryptic message. It was funnier because I was slow on the recognition of the song. I kept thinking it was from Lion King for some reason, then I had a FABULOUS Ah Ha moment and I just SMILED!
But, listening to #s 4&5 while doing things like folding laundry and watching the rain come down has made my afternoon quite enjoyable.
Thanks, Jesse!
