A description really won't do this call justice. So just listen as, over eight minutes, an insane cat lady calls a telemarketer a terrorist, a rapist, an Iraqi insurgent, a murderer, a serial killer, a criminal, a sexual abuser, a hater, hurter and life deserter. And that's just twenty seconds of the phone call. She also claims to have had an appendix rupture due to telemarketing calls and that she can produce an incriminating list of hundreds of people who have been murdered by telemarketers. That's another ten seconds.

And it goes on and on and on, interrupted only occasionally by Alex's calm, hilarious responses and a sound from the woman's throat sounding very much like the regurgitation of her entire esophagus. There is some cursing and the chick screams a lot, so be careful if you try this at work.

When I worked at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, a crazy member called in to tell me that everyone that worked at the aquarium were pedophiles. She said we molested baby otters. True story.

The husbandry team had to put down a baby otter (that was 'resuced' by someone at a beach) because it couldn't be saved. It hit the news and all sort of weird calls started coming in. This lady was truly mentally challenged. She needed help. We tried on several occasions to have her speak to a couselor in the HR Dept but failed to get her to follow through.

This gives me an idea. I've got evangelists roaming my hppd and I espect my doorbell to ring any time now. I think I'll answer the door in my PJ's, hair all askew, and tell them thay are life distroyers, rapists and that they kill people.

Do we have a lawyer on the board who can get me off? ;)

Because this type of incoherent rambling, even to a telemarketer, shows clear singes of dementia and paranoid tendencies which in our sound-bite world is typically labeled as "crazy".

I'm a bit concerned that you could not see that as being the issue.

Humm I don't know about a lawyer, but I believe there is a neo conservative, a frustrated thespian, and a guru who would all be willing to play some hand in getting you off.

I'm convinced that fear of cats and cat owners stems back to the Salem witch trials. Bad luck and witchcraft and all that.

I don't get the "cat" connection.

Now that I reread it, I don't either.

Hahahahaha, thank you. That was an NA Typo that simply perplexed me.

As for the cat connection, there's just something about crazy that screams CATS. Sort of like how the phrase "Mad as a Hatter" was derived from the effects of mercury used in hatmaking. There must be something about feline dander that likewise leads to insanity.

Stereotypes may not fit any given individual, but - about groups - they are rarely wrong.
