It has occurred to me that no one has made a mention of this, at least not that I've seen.

I'll be down there from Sat afternoon - Sunday.

Anyone else?

Hummm... Oh yeah.

That reminds me, there was a lot of talk about big going ons on for Aug '06 about a year ago. ComiCon being one.

For me the biggie was supposed to be a trip out to Anaheim for WorldCon (http://www.loungeoftomorrow.com/LoT/showthread.php?t=632).
I know I gave up on my Worldcon plans when I blew the years travel budget on a swanky trip to USH (a very good trade if I do say so myself).

There is also supposed to be a grand 40th Podday in WDW (http://www.loungeoftomorrow.com/LoT/showpost.php?p=38688&postcount=18). How are plans going for that?

A handful of people (lizziebith and Ponine come to mind. Borneo?) have already headed down there.

Yep, all three of them are down there already. I don't think anyone else went, though. Have fun!

My daughter and her boyfriend are volunteering {and enjoying} the event as I type. If you see a really pretty girl with long black hair and Frankenstein tattoos, that would be my darlin' chickie.

We are heading out in a couple of minutes, hopefully to meet Ponine. I have to go to work and the boy to school but hopefully will be able to go back the next couple of days.

Me? I'll be wearing my Queens of the Stone Age t-shirt. ;) Probably in the trading card game area as well as video games. {taking the Boy....}

Very jealous of all in attendance, though I suspect I'd feel overwhelmed by the crowed. Then again, that convention center is ENORMOUS.

All this comic talk makes me want to pull out my extensive (<- note scarcastic tone) collection

1. Complete set of Nova's (1-14 I think)
2. Groo 1-12 or so signed
3. X-Men 90-95 (Someone way back when said I should get these, I don't remember why)
4. The Secret wars mini series, The first time this was done if there are more than one version
5. Teenage mutant ninja high school #1 also signed I think...

I'll have to check ebay and see what they are worth

You're going to let a little thing like a wedding keep you from going to WorldCon?!? What kind of fan are you?!?

(Just kidding.)

This will be the 3rd WorldCon at the ACC, and I went to the last 2. This will be, I think, my 8th WorldCon total.

Eliza~It was overwhelming and the Center is enormous.

We were there only briefly. I was able to meet Ponine :D :snap: {and I hope to again} and went to Billy Wests' booth.

It is definitely enormous and I would need way more time to get my bearings and 'get' the place......

Well, I suddenly have birthday BBQ plans on Saturday down in the SD area on top of this, so I may not even venture to the convention center until Sunday. There is a tiny, miniscule chance I'll swing by on Saturday, though I am completely unsure if it'll be worth the hassle. I'll just chill for a while, have some barbeque and enjoy life, and run around like a chicken with my head cut off for Sunday. I hope some people will be there Sunday! PM me if you are, and I'll slide my cell # to you!

Oh yes, there were a lot of things I told my son, 'Well, yes, that is a man dress as a woman, it is from a movie....' {Rocky Horror} Then there was a man in a diaper {cupid}. Not to mention the many scantily clad women. I don't think those bottoms were costumes but rather just plain ol' chonies.

But we had a blast! It was all AC so that was heaven the moment we walked through the doors. It was so crowded that I didn't see anyone I knew {I asked about Ponine but she was off doing some work....}. We took the boys down until we had to leave and go to work.

Two main interests: The Nintendo area where my son played on-line for freakin' ever. Second, {or first actually but I could rarely leave the game area}: Meeting Billy West. As I was raised on Bugs Bunny & Co., and then Scooby Doo, my kids have been raised with Ren & Stimpy, Futurama and the like. They were totally in awe of him and I was extremely impressed. :snap:

It is amazing how big this event is. We saw people we knew inside and in line outside. Waiting for hours to get in. Amazing. Even in the heat. Which was smothering, by the way.

Hey now... I saw you. For a whopping... what? Twenty seconds? ;)

It was HUGE. HUGE! People everywhere.... I never stopped moving until Sunday when it started to die.
Every single time I thought, oh we'll have down time, we didnt. We'd get slammed again.

I cant begin to thank the people working with me. For the amount of people we spoke with, having everyone was what we needed to be able to see the floor at all.

MW- you prob came back the day my son was there. I tried to leave so that I coulsd see some of the show with him. And get him to the things I knew he liked.
Lets see... I saw Borneio, Mousewife, Lizziebeth, Capt Jack and DippyDawg(?), I cant remember his screen name.
Well, I saw him, we didnt speak. I dont think he realizes I know him.

Insane. Just insane.

Comiccon was insane. Lines for everything everywhere. It was my first time to the convention and honestly it was so overwhelming.

I took the train down Saturday morning and I had to sit on the floor of the Amtrak because it was so full. I was going to out Saturday night but I was so tired from all the walking I ended up taking the 8pm train home. Yea, well I shouldve stayed in SD! My train was delayed over an hour (so were the 5pm & 6pm trains), then we had a hold over for another hour or more in San Juan Capistrano THEN we broke down in Mission Viejo.

All in all my train trip took 6 hours! I got home Saturday night at 230 am (my stop point was Santa Ana). It was probably the most miserable trip. Hotter than hell while waiting to get in also.

Biggest highlight - Seeing Bruce Campbell!! I gotta get my Adv. of Brisco County Jr. DVD set now.

I was barely functioning by Sunday. You have no idea.
Bornieo saw me.... Saturday i think, while I had my youngling. he was trying to talk, the young one wanted to leave.... it was slow at the booth, but the hectic just kept coming.

Between patience with attendees, other volunteers, machinary, family, and constant inturruptions it was like having your button pushed all day long.

Twenty seconds is about all I had to myself.

I was at the Nintendo booth almost all of the time.

Yes, Ponine, you did look quite busy. I hope you are having a break today?

How old is your son? My youngest is 12. I couldn't even figure out what to get for my son from the booths, it was so crowded.

That train ride sounds miserable!!!

Ponine, thank you so much for everything. The kids enjoyed volunteering so much. Excited every night when they came home with stories. I wish they'd have dressed up for the Masquerade. They were Frankenstein and his Bride for Halloween and had very good costumes. But, we had a family event and that wiped us out.

Mine is a month away from eight.
He got oodles of stuff from the Pokemon booth, and he got a shirt from Cartoon Network. We'll go through his loot tonight.
He was with my father most of saturday, so really, i dont know what he got yet.

MW, you are so very welcome. Your kids were a blessing. Thanks to them I had enough staff to make sure that my staff saw the floor, and didnt burn out.
People commented on your daughters tattoos, and came back looking for the nice person that helped them get their badges. They were incaluable.
I really never even got the chance to train them, I threw them both to the wolves!

Break... whats a break? I went to work, gotta payroll to do!

And before you ask, I think I have at least three codes. I knew that Pru, Traci and Bacon would prob want them.
They wouldnt just had a bunch to me! Even after I said "but there's a bunch of people on my Disney based message board out of state!"

How cool for your boy. That is what mine needed, someone to walk him all over. Well, I walked him to where he wanted to go . He did thank me for standing around for hours.

I am glad the kids were helpful. Yep, I asked Billy West if he remembered the girl with the Frankie tattoos and he said she was cool. She liked that.

Yeah, what was I thinking? Break?

Hey!

Good seeing Lizybeth (for the first time) and Ponine!

The con was exhausting! It was worse than a busy day at the park. Ponine and her crew did a great job! I had a great time, although I didn't get the job. :( Oh well. They suck!! ;)

I was never a Voltron fan or any of that kind of stuff.Nor was I. But my little brother was a huge fan and had many of the action figures, including a three-foot, fully de-/re-tachable figure.

I'm just now recovering from that show LOL! Thanks to Ponine, Bornieo, and bluerica for stopping by the table (I have a horrid feeling I've left a person out -- please excuse me)! It was a fruitful, but hellaciously exhausting con. I got out from behind the table to buy my son his UglyDolls, to buy myself a sculpted sabertoothed lime from the KoL booth, and to pick up a Yoda bust I'd bought. Other than bathroom, food, etc. breaks, that was it: working the table is my new con experience!

Seeing friendly faces from my boards (along with the "hi"s from afar from Lisa and Russell) really gave me a charge, though -- thanks again!! :D

Thats hysterical.
I left my booth/Department to buy my son his ugly dolls, get my KoL secret code and Sabertooth Lime Shirt, say hi to you, and get LibraryVixen her book.

Otherwise, that about says it... the restroom, and snacks.

OO I love Clash! The movie was so visually stunning back then. One of the last stop motion movies before CGI was so popular. Plus you can't forget that it was a Ray Harryhausen creation. The man was the leader in special effects!
