R.I.P. Arthur Lee. Have to say I wasnt familiar with his work, but that sample was good. Very old school.

A moment of silence for an old "friend."

In my previous incarnation as a rock star, my band released an EP called "A Message to Pretty." The title track was the Arthur Lee song from Love's debut album. It got KROQ airplay, and Rodney Bingenheimer invited us to a Love concert that he was hosting, to introduce us to the band.

Years later, our paths crossed again at a Hollywood nightclub. We played on a bill with Arthur Lee (That night he was a solo act). He was rambling, incoherent, and somehow still brilliant.

He recently was "rediscovered" and given the Brian Wilson makeover, including a Hollywood Bowl performance of "Forever Changes" with a full orchestra, so at least he stuck around long enough to get the love again.

So long, Arthur.
