This might be interesting to LoTers.

Taken from theLog (http://thelog.com/news/newsview.asp?c=191982):

The Catalina Island Tikifest, a three-day Polynesian-influenced extravaganza, will feature five live bands, seminars and demonstrations. Hosted by King Kukulele, this is a new event that promises to introduce South Pacific culture to the island - including hula lessons, lei making, tiki carving, ukulele playing and, of course, a luau with Polynesian dancers.

More info here. (http://www.catalinatikifest.com/)

King Kukulele and his band were at the Egyptian Tiki Night last year (and probably at this year's event as well). Their CD is great fun (and includes the ubiquitous Shag artwork).

Sounds like a fin event.

Ugh, too bad we didn't hear about this earlier. We've been mulling a swanking out to Catalina for quite some time.

Alas, too little notice, with plans already made on terra firma for that weekend.
