Stop torturing me.

That's the way it crumbles... cookie-wise.

Excellent!

And GC, you'll be there!?

Alex

If I weren't making like 43 trips down there in the next few months I'd be strongly tempted to find an excuse for attending this one.

Heck, if you're going to be here anyway, make one of those 43 trips that weekend - you can spend the next day in the park.

Alex

Unfortunately the weekends I need to be down there are fixed (I'll be down the following weekend for the Disneyland Half Marathon).

Yes and yes.

I can't wait!

Alex

Well. Another mandatory trip down there was just added to my schedule for this weekend (meaning three, and potentially four consecutive weekends down there). Maybe I'll be able to attend after all.

I'll have to see how the full schedule shakes out.

:)

Only if you strain it through a tennis racket and serve the meatballs.

Oh GC, Shut up and Deal

So early! We're coming-- I hope. We have a work deadline on Monday and I'm hoping we'll be mostly done by Saturday night.

Yeah, I hate the early time schedule. Drat that cursed orbit of ours! Frelling planet!

But, ok, I'll be there. Maybe this movie deserves another chance, because I am decidedly meh about it - yet it has acclaim a'plenty.

It is looking like I will be free if I have the energy to drive back up from San Diego for the evening.

oh, please do try and come, Alex. It would be such a pleasure to see you outside a Disneyland or M.A. scenario for once.

Bah! No chance of making this one, we'll be tied up at Knott's Berry Farm for, joy of joys, my company picnic. Not that there aren't worse things than free Mrs. Knott's chicken and free park entrance, but would much rather be hanging with the out of towners.

Alex

If I'm going to try it, can some give me queuing details. Realistically when do I need to get there? If tickets need to be purchased ASAP could someone buy one for me? I'll pay you back even if I don't make it.

innerSpaceman

Tickets are purchased as you go thru the cemetery gates; there are no advance sales. So, you simply need to be there by 6:30. Our group will be somewhere in the spiral line that forms on the lawn in front of the cemetery entrance ... usually on one of the outer spiral arms, putting our entry nearer to 6:30 than not.

Parking is somewhat of a hassle if you arrive close to entry time, but if you're cutting it that close, you can brave the crazy left-hand turn lane and just park - for free! - inside the cemetery.

As for driving directions, I'll have to leave that to someone else.

We'll be there about 5ish (or shortly thereafter). Call my cell when you arrive. Alex, I'd love to see you! You have my cell still? Do I need to give you another surprise phone call?

The way we get there is to come North on the 5 (from the 710) and get off on Melrose. Take Melrose West past Paramount Studios and turn Right on Gower which is on the West border of Paramount. Go North on Gower and about 1/2 way to Santa Monica (light) start looking for street parking. After parking, walk North on Gower, turn Right (East) on Santa Monica the cemetery is about 1/2 block from Gower on the Right hand side. We sit in line on the grass in front until the gates open.

Bring $10 cash, a LOW chair, a bottle of wine and some food (or I usually have enough to share) and a blanket if you have one. Sherpas are optional.

After they open the gates, we walk to the spot at the rear of the cemetery, lay out our blankets and have a lovely picnic before the show.

We're winding down the cemetery season, so if you haven't been yet this year, this would be a good time to go.

Yes, let's all go this Saturday!

So if the movie doesn't start until 8:00, how close to that do you think I can show up and still get in. Is there a point where I know if I can't make it that I should just not bother?

Lisa, I don't think I have your current cell, but you can just PM it to me.

Yes, Jack Lemmon was in two movies (at least) with character-defining scenes involving pasta.

Well part one of my trip down has gone hellishly wrong and in such a way that I doubt I'll be able to make it after all (namely: my car is in Valencia, I'm not scheduled to be back near Valencia until Sunday at the soonest).

However, if things are really bad with the car (they may have to order a new IMA battery) it may mean that I am stuck down here until at least Tuesday so maybe I'll be around the park on Monday night. But at this point everything has been thrown into disarray for me.

Not to speak for Alex, but he showed up at Little Mermaid last night, so his transportation seems to be in less disarray than perhaps it once was.
