Dell 700m Internal SD Card Reader Issue

I have a Dell 700m notebook. About 3 weeks ago the internal sd card reader stopped working. I did some research and there is a known issue with reading 2 gig cards. I only have a 1 gig card. And it worked about a month ago.

I went to re-install the driver via the hardware manager, but the driver cannot be found. I went to the device manager to update the driver, but the driver cannot be found. I went to troubleshoot and it says that the driver is not there.

I have not installed any new software or hardware prior to this issue. I created a new profile, the card reader doesn't work there either. The device is visible under the hardware manager and the device manager; however there is the yellow circle with the ! in it.

I can't find the driver on the Dell site. I'm at a loss.

Typically you go to http://support.dell.com (http://support.dell.com)and enter the service tag printed on the back of your notebook. That should lead you to a list of downloads specific to your PC.

Does the Dell Web site offer a detailed spec sheet for your laptop model? If it mentions the maufacturer of the card reader you can probably find a driver at their Web site.

This page (http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&releaseid=R85896&SystemID=INS_PNT_PM_700M&os=WW1&osl=en&deviceid=7271&devlib=0&typecnt=1&vercnt=2&formatcnt=1&libid=27&fileid=112452) seems to be the driver for the Smart Card reader for Inspiron 700m laptops. Is this not it?

Moonie - I went to the Dell site after I discovered the driver wasn't there (I must have left that out) and didn't see it listed.
