I have not actually seen Fantasmic for almost 9 years. Every time we go to Disneyland it seems to be when it is not operating for some reason or another(seems like we have the same problem with the Matterhorn too). Well, it will be operating on are next visit, but only for one night. Last time we saw it we got front row seats, dead center.....but we had to sit there for almost 5 hours. I am hoping that the popularity of Fantasmic has waned a little since then because 5 hours is way too long for this old man:D

1-How early does one need to reserve a seat if they wish to be in the front row(center) for the first show on a late October Sunday night?

2-How many people would one need(minimum) to hold 8 spots in the front row?

3-How late could the remaining persons in ones party arrive without too much trouble?

4-Which shops on the West side of the Park carry Advil:eek:

It's still at least a 2-3 hour wait for anything approaching front and center. If you want absolute dead center...you're still talking 5 hours because there are people who stake that spot out. But there's PLEANTY of equally good spots around there that are free 2-3 hours beforehand.

If you want to reserve space for 8 people, your best bet is to have a couple blankets with you to mark your territory. Blankets and bags/backpacks, etc. Strategic use of such objects lessens the need for people to stick around. 3-4 is good, though it helps if you occasionally bolster that number for short periods (e.g., it's a good idea if, say, 2 or 3 more people show up for a quick 20 minute snack/chat break). Best practice is to have most of your party assembled by about 30 mintues before show time, but people can arrive last minute in a pinch without a big problem (they'll just have to tell the CM-sentries that they know someone in the crowd and they'll be let through).

ooooh - I'd forgotten all about Fantasmic crowds. Mid-December will it even be showing?

I should add that it's also easy to get very good standing viewing virtually anytime. The seating areas in front still get packed in, but it's no longer should-to-shoulder all the way back to the Riverbelle. Behind that first row of planters you can easily walk up within an hour of show time and have a fine view.

Actually, if there are two showings of F! I would suggest the second showing. If you have someone who can be assertive without being an ass (and who doesn't mind seeing the end of the show before the rest of it), here's the plan:

Time a walk along the edge of the walkway behind front and center so that you arrive about 2 minutes B4 the end of the show (any sooner and they will make you keep walking. Sidle to the back edge of the standing crowd once the ropes have been removed.

As soon as the show is over, start making your way up to front and center. People will still be picking up their blankets, kids and (hopefully) trash. You will want to get up to the railing as quick as possible to stake your claim.

If fireworks are going right after the first F! viewing, you will need to modify your plans to accomodate.

That way, your wait is only about 1.5 hours.

Another thought is that you can show up very little amount of time (10 minutes) before the 2nd show and go around to the area behind the TSI dock. I've been able to get last minute standing room there.

Lastly, if it is a busy Friday or Saturday night in later December, they may add a third show. That, however, is a crap shoot as they don't announce it in advance - usually just late in the day.

ETA: never mind my comment about "December": it appears I can't read. I doubt there will be a third show on a late October Sunday night.

Isn't there a thread about a meet? If I wasn't in so much pain, I'd look it up.

Yeah, the dates in that other thread are about a week off.

Of course I want a meet.

I am arriving on Sunday(don't know what time yet as air has not been arranged yet) and when we do finally gain entrance to DL I am hoping to sieze good seats to Fantasmic. We have tickets to the Halloween thingy on Tuesday night and no other plans beyond that right now.
