Just wondering who all is planning on attending this year and which days. It falls on October 6-8th and I'm assuming the Disneyland portion falls on Saturday, the 7th.

Eh, I'm tired of it.

Not saying I won't go this year, but it seemed so same ol' same ol' last time.

Heheh, I devised this whole quasi mouseadventurish game to play at the Park on gay day - - sorta to spice things up - - but nothing ever came of it (um, I gave a written proposal to several people on this board, but I don't think anybody even read it. Maybe I'll post it here for some giggles, if I can dig it up).

Anyways, it's getting harder and harder to top the previous year's shirt.

(um, make that "more and more difficult.")

And, well, mostly .... this may seem silly - - and perhaps more than a tad pathetic - - but it would be the first Gay Day without zapppop being my boyfriend, and the thought of gay day without my lover makes me kinda sad.

:(

I'd go if I were there. Next year, for sure! ;)

Hey, I read it, it was awesome. I just don't know that I was on board to supervise the "groping in front of Small World" quest.

Meanwhile, we too will be out of town.

Unfortunately that weekend is my only free weekend until the 2nd week in November and I have to take care of all those adult responsiblities and homework. :(

I don't think we are going either. Between Matthew's typical weekend work schedule and my gig schedule that particular weekend, we would only be able to spend a couple of hours there tops. Not really worth paying for the blockout tickets.

If there was a big gathering of friends there, we might try to jump through a few hoops and make an appearance but it sounds like that won't be necessary. :)

Hmmmm, now that I think about it, Gay Day might be kinda novel without a bunch of my straight friends being there.

Make no mistake ... if I thought there was even slight hook-up potential with some guy who's into Disneyland fun, I'd be there in a heartbeat. But, there's been such slim and unappealing pickins in the past that I was very glad to not be in the market, as it were.

Seriously tho ... non-straight friends gay day has a certain something to it. I'll have to think about it some more.

Seriously tho ... non-straight friends gay day has a certain something to it. I'll have to think about it some more.Go for it! I always thought that having posers like us along for Gay Day and Bats Day was holding others back. ;)

Besides, when you're in a relationship, everyone else looks less appetizing. You may get lucky. In fact, if you fail at hooking up on Gay Day at Disneyland with thousands of like-minded boys wandering around, I think you may have to hang up the tiara. My money's on your pendulum swinging back the other way anyway...

hehehe I am feeling a bit evil right now. I am taking my mom back to DLR on the 7th. While she says she is open minded, I expect to be telling her to get over it quite a bit. I have no intention of telling her beforehand. I just want to see if she even notices.

Alas, we've yet to go to a Gay Day celebration and though we'd like to, we'll be out of town.

Oh what the heck, for old time's sake:

I can't believe this is a Disney sponsored event!

Why do they need a broadcast it?

My children wouldn't be safe there on that day...

I called mom tonight to tell her that I will be working that Saturday, so we will be going on Sunday instead. I still haven't told her what will be going on that dau. I am waiting for her to ask me why so many people are wearing red.

That sounds like a compliment and a challenge... I'll take both.

"I love a nice, warm churro"

"The REAL reason they removed teeter-totter rock"

"Davy Crockett's Explorer"

"It's (not) A Small World, after all"

"Give 'em a broadside!"

"Pooh got into my honey pot"

Heheh, nice try.

Nope, if I go ... which I just may ... there will be no custom shirt this year. I'm far too busy to create one, even if a slogan were appealing.

Next year, back to creative shirts. This year, if I even show - it will be effort enough.

Hey, MBC ... I know it's not enough of a do for you guys to spring for block-out passes for the few hours you have to spare that day ... but what would you say to meeting up for a drink at one of the many DTD establishments that serve libations???

Next year, back to creative shirts. This year, if I even show - it will be effort enough.

Yeah I feel it's difficult to top my last year's shirt, BUT this year I did those iron on letters and made two: Saturday was "Barely Even Friends, Then Somebody Bends -- Unexpectedly" and Sunday was "Darling It's Better Down Where It's Wetter" :) Iron on letters take for-f'ing-ever to do...

I definitely got some compliments, but of course you had to be somewhat of a Disney nerd to get that they were lyrics. Some of the people that didn't "get it" were CMs, which sort of annoyed me. But I definitely got some good reactions from people!!!

So as far as the whole Gay Day event is concerned, I had a blast this year. The reason I had a blast was because of the people I was with and the new friends I met -- I always seem to hang out with awesome people (like Jonno and CM Justin on Sunday) and on Saturday, the Cove Bar was basically The Boom Boom Room, which was SO SO SO much fun. The wandering around in packs of red shirts looking for other red shirts was fantastic, just a good vibe all around with that aspect.

That being said, I had fun despite the way it is being organized. Yes, I love Jeff Epstein (the organizer) and Worthy (the drag queen Momma) who do it every year but the problem with Gay Days are twofold:

1) There's a big push on the PARTIES and not the PARKS. The Kingdom dance is nice and (expensive) and all, with some good hosts, but really, I can go to the House of Blues any time I want. I can go to West Hollywood any time I want. When events were IN the parks, they were interesting. Now, out of the parks, I have zero interest in going, and not just because I don't drink. When you're in the park, they're really pushing you to go to the outside events, instead of having some kind of big fun memorable happening inside the parks. Which brings me to point #2.

2) There are TOO MANY things planned at the parks. This might not seem like a negative, but the problem comes when there are so many things, all of them are sparsely attended. Even the photo ops this year and last were sparsely attended.

Goth day has TWO major things to do, and EVERYONE comes to those: 1) the photo at the castle, and 2) the Haunted Mansion at nite. EVERYONE is participating in the organized events, and thus the organized events are memorable.

With Gay Days, on the other hand, you had: Single Riders Gathering, Youth Scavenger Hunt, Family Lunch, Ladies Who Lunch, Bear Lunch, Youth Lunch, Group Photo, Scavenger Hunt, Parade Meet, Couple Dinner, Cocktail Party, Youth Dinner, Kingdom Dance, Late Movie.

That's 14 events, in one day. Sorry, but that is about 11 too many. People are going to pick and choose one or maybe two of those things to do. So why not make ONE event "THE EVENT" to do? Why not have an all gay-days Small World ride, a-la what Goth Day does for the Mansion? There's certainly room to take small 100 person group photos a-la Goth Mansion...

I've let Jeff and Worthy know about those issues, multiple times, but they are going to keep doing what they are doing.

Oh well. I'm still going to go every year because of the fun vibe in the parks (and since the people I meet specifically on gay days somehow end up sticking around as longer-term friends). Yeah, I had a freekin blast a few weekends ago!!!

LMAO!!! heheh it's been a looooooooooong couple of weeks fo'sho. Last weekend I was getting my costume together for Halloween, since I'm doing that Mickey Not So Scary thing at the Magic Kingdom in WDW (I'm going as Lindsay Lohan: Fully Loaded... complete with Disneyland birthday button) and doing the LA AIDS Walk. Plus I am looking for a new job, so if anyone hears of anyone needing an attorney, let me know!! (At least it's nice to look while I'm still working, so I'm not crazy-desperate or anything)

But enough of a Cherny LoT Check-in ;) heheh I miss you guys!!! When's the next fun outing in November? (Witches of Morva is going to be in town the 4 day Thanksgiving weekend, just FYI) :D
