Someone posted this over on MC, and I'm sure some folks here (okay... coastermatt) would be interested. This came to them in an email from SFMM:
Dare to ride Colossus, backwards … for 13 hours on Friday the 13th of October!
This year, to celebrate Friday the 13th, the 13 days of Fright Fest 2006 and the 13th AnniverSCARY of Fright Fest, Six Flags Magic Mountain is holding a 13 hour coaster scare-a-thon on our signature Fright Fest coaster, Colossus – BACKWARDS!
Participants left after 13 hours will win a pair of 2007 Xtreme Season Passes and VIP access to SFMM Fright Fest.
Call 661-255-5917.
Space is limited.

Um, isn't Six Flags Magic Mountain closing before 2007?

Yikes. I LOVE riding Colossus backwards...but 13 hous?! I mean, wow that is a true endurance test. With back support in the entirely wrong direction, that's no easy feat.

Do they at least stop long enough to let the poor reached piles of human flesh hunched over in a pile of vomit off the ride??

I would think they would have to- or else they will have massive lawsuit risks.

There are plenty of marathon ride records that involve potty breaks.

Um, isn't Six Flags Magic Mountain closing before 2007?I don't think it was ver definitive. At least not that I heard.

All that's been announced is that Six Flags is looking to sell the property.

Same out here- but the general consensus is that they would be incredible fools to close the park down.

Only 13 hours? Even if it is in those wonderfully uncomfortable Psyclone trains, on a really piss poorly maintained Colossus, that's really not that bad of a marathon. Colossus is really not that thrilling any more, they have done a beautiful job removing the airtime (flattened out a double down drop for a midcourse brake), the trains shuffle around the track more than roll.

Personally, I think the best ride is Colossus backwards. It's awesome! Especially since its not something they do all the time. Course I wouldn't do it for 13 hours!
