In a very ironic turn of events, it is not recommended that you do not place your laptop on your lap. How ironic!

"I burned my thighs using your computer! I'm going to sue you, HP bastards!"
:D
Computer batteries can get hot during normal use. Do not use your computer on your lap.
Here's a smashing idea, and one I use on occasion:
If the battery gets too hot for comfort, take it off your lap.
This seems kind of like saying "Roads can become icy, do not drive on roads."

I would think you'd have to have some sort of nerve disorder to not realize you were sustaining burns. I would have taken the thing off my lap before that point.

I bought a crappy little USB powered pad with 2 crappy little fans at Fry's for $15. It works wonders. It advertises a 10-15 degree improvement, I'd say it's been more like 30-40 degrees cooler. And it's meant that my laptop hasn't had to kick its fans into high gear nearly as often, which is a big power saver. Highly recommended.

I can picture you walkin up on GD, and looking at the screen. It's off and you look at him like "WTF are you doing?". Just one of those mental pictures as you read the board!
Besides scalding, they say that the heat can cause a man to become impodent (I did'nt read this story yet), something about too much heat for the teticals to function.
But now, with Sony batteries exploding, I'd really be concirned (if I had a lap top).
Also, what would a Lop Top look like if your knees bent the other way??
I'm curious, though, how many people actually work with the laptop on top of their package? I know that I never do, it is always a bit farther down the leg than that.
And the testicles function fine in heat, the sperm in the testicles tend to die because of heat (and this can be accomplished by other activities such as very hot baths. Besides, I want to be sterile (impotence is a different malady not caused by heat generally) which is why I go to sleep at night with my running laptop between my legs instead of the pillow I used to have.

...it is not recommended that you do not place your laptop on your lap.If I read this correctly, it is recommended that one DOES use your laptop on your laptop
:D

Hmm, I think Better was specifically refering to those long Winter nights when it is cold and one feels a chill in thine lap. That is why I own two laptops, one for my lap and one for my cold lil' piggies.

I love the parts where they warn not to drop on hard surface or get wet.
If I can't drop it on cement or into water - where CAN I drop it?
