...and in this corner, reprising his role as the generally clueless bitter east coaster it's Moonliner!!!

Err, what does an ambassador team do exactly?

They ambass.Okay, to be less of a smart ass...

The ambassadors are, well, ambassadors for Disney. They appear at public functions (such as "giant check" charity events), star in CM training videos, take part in events such as the 50th kick off where they had the ambassadors from each of the resorts world wide on sattelite, greet celebrity guests to the resort, etc. Each ambassador's term lasts one year (though the last set got to ride out the whole 18 month 50th term), after which new ambassadors are nominated and elected by the CMs. It's a big honor.

You mean a smart amb ass?;)

I wonder what an ambass's job is like? Do they work a full 40-hr week, or is it part time? Do they have to be on call 24/7 or do they get a monthly/quarterly/yearly schedule? What kind of pay, and is it salary or hourly? And of course you have to be one of the beautiful people to represent DLR. No plain people need apply.......

Just a few questions I always wondered.

But man, what a job that would be!:snap:

Congrats to those who made it!

And who's this LoTer everyone's talking about? Or is it on the hush?

What kind of pay, and is it salary or hourly? While others may be able to provide better facts, I speculate that this is a salaried full-time position. The schedule is probably quiet extensive with a lot of travel involved. I doubt it is am "on-call" position because I imagine the schedule is quite detailed dar in advance. The key thing is to smile a lot and do plenty of "selling" of Disneyland.

And who's this LoTer everyone's talking about? Or is it on the hush? :confused:This person cannot be named publicly as there are Disney prying eyes and we wouldn't want to jeopardize this person's position within the company. Suffice it to say that this person is Disney Ambassador personified with the spirit, enthusiasm, and knowledge to be a PERFECT ambassador.

here are a few answers to some questions... and some clarification.

mandatory qualifications include:

18 years or older
one year or more as a current CM
12 months or more continued perfect attendancethe honor of being selected as the Disneyland Resort Ambassador follows an exhaustive series of interviews, each one conducted by higher levels of management and reducing the candidate pool.

during the interviews, each candidate will demonstrate their speaking and writing skills as well as ability to work both individually and as a team.

they should have good knowledge of the Disneyland Resort and the Walt Disney Company including experience with job shadowing/cross training in a variety of roles to better understand the Resort operations.

they should demonstrate a natural enthusiasm for the Resort.

it is a full-time salaried position with a busy schedule of events and appearances both locally and globally, serving for one year from January 1 through December 31.

the Ambassador becomes the offical Resort representative and is the voice of over 20,000 Cast Members during both local and national print media, television and radio interviews.

duties include being official host to visiting dignitaries, VIP's and political leaders, as well as, emcee at offical Resort ceremonies and serve as "emissarie of goodwill" in the community.

And of course you have to be one of the beautiful people to represent DLR. No plain people need apply.......

no. It is grooming that is important. the Ambassador must uphold the clean-cut "Disney look" and remain consistant with the Disney brand and image.

the first Ambassador, Julie Reihm, was selected by Walt Disney in 1964 to serve during the Disneyland "Tencennial Celebration" in 1965. today, the ultimate decision is made by the Resort President. each October, all CM's are invited to the live announcement ceremony at the Main Street Train Station in Town Square.

the Ambassador(s) is(are) selected based upon who best reflects and promotes the Disney pholosophy and ideals and demonstrates the ability to carry on Walt's DREAM of making Disneyland a source of joy and inspiration to all the world.

And who's this LoTer everyone's talking about? Or is it on the hush?

maybe this guy ----> (spotted at a meet and captured on film as evidence)

And thank you for posting the famous "boob salute" photo again! Never fails to bring a smile to my face.

Thanks ML! That's great info, I always wondered!!

I had no idea that's how the process was done.

Well, it's sure an honor, then, to be chosen. And not an easy task either.

I sure hope  gets their wish some day to be able to ambass! That would be uber cool to the max!:D

And congrats to the new team!!

The thread title got my hopes up that a certain CM was now a Disneyland Ambassador. That's what I get for jumping to conclusions.

Too bad...I'd totally do a Disneyland Ambassador on the Matterhorn.
