So, congratulations and may you both enjoy many happy years of marital bliss and contentment.

Susan is currently having fun with the wedding cake at the moment. She will be up much later than me tonight.

One of the layers had problems and had to be remade (just the actual cake part - not decorated parts). Bummer - we have a bunch of cake to munch on :D

I've seen the design and am looking forward to the finished product.

But I woke up this morning to see the (mostly - some assembly required on site) finished cake. It is georgeous (and huge - anybody coming to the hitching better bring an appetite for cake).

Was that a party???? Was that a magical, magnificent, magnificational wedding of stupendousness?

Yes, I gush.

Fantabulous!!!!!

Beautiful, moving ceremony, rollicking imaginative reception party. Gorgeousness everywhere. Details, artistry, talent, and .... oh love in the freaking air, baby!!!

I won't (yet) write several paragraphs about the centerpieces and table settings that will go down in legend ...

but let me take a moment to thank the bride and groom and so many others for the wonderful personal touches that abounded. The aforementioned cake by Susan ... hahahah and mmmmmm - it had layers of Churro, Dole Whip and Frozen Chocolate Banana!

DJ'ing by none other than Kevy Baby ... who aquiessed all too well to Blue Erica's request for "more 80's." And his master of ceremonies stuff was simply smooooooth.

Speaking of smooth, our very own Motorboat Cruiser and his combo provided the evening's swankified live music. Groovy, man, just groovy.

:snap:

And all the others who spoke, or toasted or directed or helped. So many were in on it, and the year's worth of planning and preparation paid off handsomely.

Oh, and handsomely it was ... we simply must have more occasions where we all get together and dress to the nines.

and Dance.

Congratulations once again to Ken and Teresa ... and thank you guys so much for letting us share such a magical time with you, and ... yeah, for throwing the most fantabulous shindig for so many friends and family.

had a ball. love you guys. mazel-tov.

What an absolute delight! Between the combination of elbow grease (the work put into this wedding truly showed) and esprit-de-corps (their love for each other really bled through into every moment and into us, too) and fan-freaking-tastic community (yes, we are a gorgeous LoT) it was definitely the most enjoyable wedding I've ever attended.

Happy, happy congratulations to a wonderful couple! Now GO AND GET SOME REST! Enjoy your cruise!

(Cross post)

In addition to the center pieces, each favor was themed to the attraction as well. The Haunted Mansion table got tombstones filled with autumn leaf chocolate as well as a skeleton, the Alice table got mineature teacups, TSI - galvinized buckets, Pirates - Treasure Chests, Matterhorn - snowballs, etc. The centerpieces were also each placed on themed fabric cloths.

We also got assigned to our tables by opening a secret envelope after the ceremony. Inside were reproduction Disneyland "E" tickets with our "attraction" circled.

Our place cards were reproductions of a esplanade stone (printed on magnets) with our names and the date on them and the initials of the bride and groom with the wedding bells pic at the top.

We also got a 2 CD set/booklet - "A musical Journey of Love and Laughter" - that includes some great pictures.

It's all absolutely amazing.

Certainly, but I've never seen themeing set a party into such high gear motion. OMG, the first twenty minutes of the reception was everyone running from table to table, marveling and ooohing & ahhing. Pointing out details to each other, charging from place to place like giddy children, and - hahaha - even clearing people out of the way so a few of us could run the Goat Trick around the Big Thunder Table!

(And, heheh, I could not help but be personally tickled when I realized this was all going on to the unique musical accompaniment of Fantasbelievremembric!)

These were not mere decorations ... they put the party in motion with an amazing activity of discovery and appreciation. And let's not forget all the theme-matching material bases and party favors. Oh, and Esplanade Brick place markers, and CD sets and ....it all really set La Mood.

And then, ah, the swanky company of guaranteed good times ...

and most of all, as someone put it better than I ever could, the evening ...

filled with the warmth of this so-obviously-right union
The wonderful celebration of a true love joined forever is what really set the night in motion. And what a NIGHT!!!

One other cool thing about the ceremony is that it happened right at sunset. As they were doing the hand fasting, bats were flying about in the sky and an owl was hooting in the background.

Earlier in the day, while we were setting up, we found several tiny frogs leaping about the grounds. I had one in my hands and, later, Nephy picked one up. They were adorable!

There were 4 different flavors of SUPER YUMMY cake that Susan (gus gus) had made. Jimmy hod procured me a slice of the "Churro" flavor and I was enjoying that, but realized I really wanted to try the others. Neph had 2 other flavors on her plate - Chocolate Covered Banana and Strawberry Shortcake - but neither of us had tasted the Dole Whip flavor. So we went from table to table begging for dole whip until we actually found some to taste. Cake Whores.

Will fall of 2007 be soon enough? If not, you can always fly to Michigan en masse in June of 2007! ;)

The only thing that made us sad on Saturday was realizing just how much more fun it would be to have all of you there at our wedding in Michigan. But we've come up with a fun way to have you sort of "with us," and we'll discuss that later. I guess I'll just have to be satisfied with a party on each coast. (Sigh!)

And, NA, if you were a cake whore, then I am a cake madonna. Heh. I actually started sharing bites of my Dole Whip as soon as I heard that Tom got the last piece.

Having just walked in my front door, I think I might be the last guest to make it home. :)

I have to say this. I played a wedding the next day as well. It was fine as far as weddings go but it was still a major letdown in comparison and I couldn't help but make comparisons to the day before, in what had to be the most swanky and delightful wedding I've ever had the pleasure to play at or attend. I can't imagine another one ever even coming close. It was so wonderful to see all of you. Never has their been so much love in one place.

I'm still coming down from the experience. Simply awesome.

It must have been hell to be at KevyBaby and Gus Gus's house during the testing of flavors phase...No flavor testing this time, although we have a LOT of the chocolate cake available at our joint (just the cake in pieces - no frosting). Seems neither of the two layers (16" diameter cakes) came out properly the first time and poor Susi had to remake them. So, if you have a hankerin' for some chocolate cake; stop by our place.

I know I'm about a day late talking about the music - but I've decided that it's officially okay to cease ANY conversation to sing the main chorus of "Sweet Caroline" and that without having to say anything, all parties to a conversation are to automatically belt it out.
Oh good, I'd hoped there be an opening for this story ....

The night before the wedding, I was out with some friends at a pub in San Pedro called The Whale and Ale. It wasn't enough that there was the wedding the next day, or that I'd just received a cell call from zapppop telling me his sibling had just gotten married hours earlier, but this entire pub was taken over by a drunken wedding party after their rehearsal dinner for nuptuals the very next day.

At one point, they were obnoxiously belting out the non-words to many brass-filled songs, among them "Sweet Caroline." It was truly awful. Drunken boars with no decent voices in the lot. We were laughing at them, and then at ourselves for all the times we remembered ... when we were young and roudier and would have done the same.

So the next night, at the wedding, when I was pretty drunk myself, the opportunity to belt out the non-words to "Sweet Caroline" was such a personal hoot for me ... and I was laughing so hard, I could barely scream the "Bah-Bah-Bah"s in the most drunken off-key voice I could manage!

Hahahahahahaha! That was a great episode ... and I don't think there was a moment during the evening that I wasn't having classic time o'life!

(by the way ... were we at high altitude or something? 'Cause I was way more plastered on two glasses of wine than I would usually get ... at either sea level or normal happiness level)

Heheh, when they were doing the garter bit, The Toddler and I joked that if all the Single men did not include all the Gay men, there would have been like four guys out there vying for the garter.

Um, and just because I caught the garter doesn't mean we leave it to providence ... any potentials spotted or fix-ups arranged will be greatly appreciated, and your aid in making wedding lore come true will be duly noted by the Gods.

To continue on the Sweet Caroline tangent... I was out with some co-workersa few weeks ago and the very same thing happened! But, the wedding made it official. People who don't get face time like co-workers do - stopping it all to belt out Sweet Caroline - makes it all the more official to me.

And, Disney spent the week kissing my possibly broken ass. ;) And poor Ken spent the week having to play caretaker for me, and will still be doing that for a little while once we have the x-rays done.

The wedding went perfect, so of course the universe had to balance that out with the honeymoon.

So, there's a teaser. :p

OMG! Teaser smeaser! I want the whole story.Ok, ok. Here's what I've already typed in verbatim in a couple emails to Morrigoon today. But, you'll have to wait for the rest..... I'm typed out on this subject for today:

Part 1 - “Bright Star to the Right (Starboard), and Straight On to the Medical Center”

It was about 12:30 on Monday afternoon, and Ken and I were enjoying a bit of sunshine up on Deck 10. He was reading, I was lounging in my brand new Mickey swimsuit and terry cloth cover up that we just bought the night before while onboard. I was kicked back, looking out over the ocean and listening to my iPod. Ken tapped me on the shoulder after 10 minutes, saying he was bored (not surprising), so he was going down to the movie theater to watch “Cars”. He left all our stuff with me, figuring I’d still be there when the movie was over. About 10 minutes later, I noticed we were heading into some really dark clouds, so I quickly packed up our stuff and proceeded towards the nearest doors, my arms full of stuff. The downpour hit just seconds later, blocking my vision, and I stepped into a large puddle that just accumulated on the deck, about 12 feet from the door…… and WHAM!!! I came right down on my lower back, with nothing to break the fall, because I was holding all our stuff (camera, book, sodas, etc.) Searing pain rocketed through my spine, and I tried to get up and couldn’t. I screamed, “My back! I can’t get up! My back!” A nearby cocktail server saw me and picked up the emergency phone, telling me to stay where I was. I rolled over to my side to alleviate the pressure, and laid there holding on to the nearby railing that overlooks the adult pool area below, which all the people down there were now staring at me. Another CM arrived, and a guest who was a first response nurse from Iowa who offered to help. They piled towels on top of me to keep me warm and dry, and held my head so I couldn’t move my neck, and the other held my lower back. Another CM came over, pulled my cruise ID from my lanyard (thankfully I had been wearing it), and said, “Teresa, you’ll be ok. You’re going to hear a loud announcement about ‘Bright Star’, and then you’ll be surrounded by about 20 cast members who will be helping you. Just don’t get overwhelmed – they are coming to help.” A few seconds later, the broadcast interrupted everything on the ship – staterooms, the movie theater, etc. – “Attention all ship staff. We have a bright star on Deck 10 fore starboard! Once again, bright star, deck 10, fore starboard.” Soon after, I was surrounded by two medical crew, some cocktail servers, a couple ship’s officers (both in and out of uniform – one of them was off that day and lounging in the nearby sauna), a few food servers, and other crew that have been trained in emergency response. Then, they brought out the backboard and start strapping me to it (ugh), and a wheeled stretcher, on which one side would not lock……….
(to be continued)

Part 2 - “Having a Nice Trip!”

After being immobilized on the backboard, about 6 guys lifted me onto the stretcher, which instantly collapsed on the left side, turning me about 30 degrees sideways. Ow. Finally, they just decided to support my weight on that side, and we began the journey to the elevators. I now know why the mid-ship elevators are longer than the fore and aft – it’s so they can accommodate a stretcher. The bad side of that – they’re glass on one side, and completely visible to everyone from the main lobby atrium. The other bad side – to access it from Deck 10, you have to enter the teen club. So, after trekking through a gaggle of curious teenagers, we made it into the elevator for the descent to Deck 1, which descended my tiny bit of remaining pride further with each floor we passed. Being one of the busiest elevators, it stopped at a couple other floors along the way to the response of waiting guests, “Um, we’ll take the next one.”

Once we arrived on Deck 1, the stretcher would not go through the main door of the medical center, so we took a turn beyond the doors marked “Crew Members Only”……..
(to be continued)

Part 3 - "A Dream is a Wish Your Butt Makes"

I've always wanted to see non-guest areas of the ship, and at that point, I got my wish. Although, all I could see was the ceiling, which was unfinished, with numerous pipes running overhead. A few twists and turns later and we were finally in a large medical room, and they unstrapped me and transferred me onto the bed.

I was very scared, in much pain, and soaked from the rainwater and spilled sodas that permeated my new swimsuit and cover-up. Once I told them that it was only my lower back and bottom that hurt, the rolled me onto my side to inspect my back by applying pressure. The doctor was confident that I didn't sustain any grave injury to my spine, and that treatment and full diagnosis could wait until I could get home to my doctor. They inserted an IV catheter into my hand and gave me 60 mgs of some kind of pain reliever and gave me two Tylenol 3 with codeine. The ship's director of guest services (I'll refer to him as the DGS from this point forward) was unable to locate Ken via a shipwide page (apparently that announcement didn't interrupt the movie theater). So, I gave him a description, and off he went to track down my new husband to deliver the "in sickness" part of the classic wedding vow........

I have a quick story for you....

Just after the photos of your grand day came out, I ran across a fellow that is planning his "Disney wedding".

I said to him, "Oh, you are? Here let me show you some photos of a friends wedding...."
"Oh that's OK", he replied "We already have things perfectly planned."

I ignored him, pulled up the photos from micechat on his PC.....

whump! (<- Sound of his jaw hitting the ground).

Pause, pause pause, drool, drool, drool.... (<- his nonverbal response)

"Wow! That gives me some really great ideas, thanks!"

My work here is done.

Ya know, this could be a perfect business for someone to get into, custom designed Disney weddings like this!

I admit, when I saw the photos I was totally B-L-O-W-N A-W-A-Y.

I agree- DP. You could give people Disney weddings without making them go bankrupt. ;)

Oh god... I still must say, I don't think anyone else can ever have a Disney wedding. Ever. Again. Don't any of you think about it unless you're actually having the wedding AT Disneyworld, or have an imagineer working for you. Just. Don't.

Ideas are ideas, execution is something else. I do wish them well on planning their wedding - just let them know it took MONTHS of solid and hard work, and a lot of help from friends to pull it off. I can't even begin to imagine the time, effort and love poured into the decorations and everything else that went into DP & FPs wedding. Maybe that's where the magic came from.

:)

Awww... warm fuzzies.

Humm, perhaps it was evil of me to show him that which he will never be able to achieve. My bad.

It really was the help of friends who made it magical. Anyone can make a centerpiece, but it takes a collective effort of wonderful energy to really make some magic. :)

Well if that's the case, you all have some powerful magic! All was quite apparent from the photos alone!

How's your ass? He's working today, actually. ;)

Oh, wait, you're talking about my butt......

Thankfully only badly bruised, however, my lower back is straightened, where it is supposed to curve. It flattened itself out when I hit, and that explains the very limited range of motion, plus the muscle spasms I've been having. :(
