Wow, and I thought I had a wierd view of the Happiest Place on Earth!:snap:
Most families go to Disneyland because it's fun for the kids. My parents went to Disneyland to patch up their marriage. When they fought, which was often, they stopped talking to each other for weeks at a time, mounting pitched battles of passive aggression that left me and my brothers huddled in the demilitarized zone in front of the living room TV.

I love his Counter Intelligence. This article has a fun perspective-- and extremely well-informed. He knew the kind of details that I would put in my own Disneyland travel articles.

Great article!
And what I have grown to appreciate about Disneyland is that it is still the single-minded creation of Walt Disney, a man who was cheerfully bat-**** insane. A backyard hobbyist who managed to harness major corporate resources to build himself a better train set, Disney translated his back-of-the-envelope scrawlings into millions of tons of concrete and steel.:snap: Love it!

(Yeah, that bat-**** insane part was my favorite, too.)

I loved that, too! I know Walt was part crazy kid....:snap:
But I also loved how his parents always made up after spending the day at DL, not even going on the rides at all. Just sitting and chatting over coffee. There is something about that park that makes you leave the world behind and forget your troubles. Walt designed it to be that way, and it still holds true for the most part.

It really is kind of a rarity, a "different" article about Disneyland that manages to get the facts straight. Most articles I read that aren't from dedicated Disney sites are usually misinformed about something or other, and this was surprisingly accurate.
