View Full Version : I herby decree: National Backup Day.

I hereby decree today (well this weekend if you like) to be National Back Up Your Data day.

I'm updating all my drive images and burning DVD's with all my photos and movies that are not already backup. Remember, the data you save might be your own, friends don't let friends compute while not backed up, and data doesn't kill data, people do.

Have a nice day.

Awesome idea. This post sent me a searchin' -

Since my iPod just died and I'm really not sure what I do and don't have backed up, I recommend this as well.

Thanks for the reminder - I was just thinking I needed to do this.

In 25 years of computing, I have never once backed up a computer.

So far I haven't suffered for it and have saved much time. Stick it to the many by leaving your data and restorable.

Wait a moment, I was just getting ready to decree that myself! Indeed, the paperwork is my hands! I was only waiting on the trumpeters! And those trumpet guys are union -- they charge whether they play or not. Why must I always be so late with my decrees? Anyway, I think I have another decree here somplace ---

Here we go ...

I hereby decree it National Nougat Day. Enjoy nougat and be plentiful. Enjoy! I so decree it!

Nougat rocks, especially when it's rich and creamy, and wrapped in silky smooth dark chocolate.

Frankly, Tref's National Day tastes better than Moon's.

Frankly, Tref's National Day tastes better than Moon's.That's kind of an odd nickname - "National Day"

Although far less silly than "Trouser Trout"

Perhaps we need to merge them.

Bleh! If I have to eat nougat I think I'd rather switch to Alex's nougat free backup plan.

FWIW: there is a network backup "solution" available in the market called "Mirra". It is currently owned by Seagate. Here is my review:

It is a piece of shyt.

Is that a taste-based review, KB?

I love that Mirra's name is so close to 'Merde' :D

If you plan on celebrating...be sure you verify that you can restore your backed up data. 50% of all backed up data* fails to restore properly.

Brought to you by the department of marketing statistics, reminding you that 27% of all statistics are made up

Mr. Delight brings up an excellent point. Thank you sir. Here is another fun one along the same lines for all you worker bees out there. Delete one of your own documents off the network. Wait two or more days and ask for it back. See what happens. Can the IT staff (or person) get it back? How long did it take? Was the date on the file the same as the one you deleted? Note: You should probably use a file you don't need for this experiment.

For you overachievers, create a file at 10:00am, save over it with another file at 10:30am and see if your IT department can get back the original.

Or, we can all just break out the nougat.

We spent the weekend in hotel rooms and Matthew insisted that we needed a big bag of Milky Ways to help see us through.

I'm all nougated out.

Think I'll back up my data instead. :)

Wait just a second. Are you saying that nougat is the stuff in Milky Way's?

I thought it was just the nasty nutty stuff in mounds.

I hereby rescind my earlier anti-nougat statements.

Backups and Nougat all around.

It's all about 3 Musketeers, none of that silly caramel to get in the way of the nougat.

Mounds and Almond Joy have coconut.

Mounds and Almond Joy have coconut.

Which of course makes them unfit for human consumption. I wholeheartedly agree.

There is nothing wrong with Moon- he was misinformed as to the nature of nougat. He remains correct with regards to that coconut ****.
