The New Yorker cartoon caption contest is a fun little diversion that I would recommend to you all. I happen to be a finalist this week. (About f****** time!) I would appreciate your vote. I'm the fellow from Petaluma. (No need to mention my name in any responses.)

The first entry is also fairly strong; however, I submit that mine is the truly surreal response. If anyone is on the fence about whom they should vote for, I would be happy to explain in laborious critical detail why most of my entries in prior weeks should have won.
I also Googled the author of the first caption. He has a blog about his two-year-old. What a putz.

Congratulations! I submitted a caption once, but didn't make it to the finals. You've got my vote. :)

I voted for you, too. But seriously because yours was the best choice (and I found it hard to believe that one of the three even made it to the finals).

Well, I wouldn't have voted for you if I didn't know you, primarily because I wouldn't have known about this contest. (Yours is the best entry, btw).
But, now I do, so I did!

Thanks to all who have voted so far. Voting closes Sunday night at midnight eastern time. Remember, if you don't vote, you can't complain about the outcome of this very, very, very, very important contest.
Only I can.

Yours was easily the funniest -- vote cast! :snap:

I voted for you.
(I confess I became quite confused in the polling booth and may have experienced what they call "butterfly ballot" syndrome.)
All I know is that I now receive offers to subscribe to the New Yorker.
Your caption was by far the funniest.

Well?
I checked to see if you won and don't see that cartoon anywhere - either current or previous.
You must tell us the results!

They'll post the results at midnight next Monday. I assume I'll hear one way or another before then. Then, if I lose, I'll have a few days to challenge to the reliability of the results.

A few moments ago I e-mailed Mr. Sagalyn . . .
Now, now, no, none of that.
. . . I e-mailed Mr. Sagalyn to congratulate him on a good job in a fun contest.
Thanks to all of you who voted. I appreciate it.
Onward!

Onward!
So what's you entry for this week (http://www.cartoonbank.com/CapContest/CaptionContest.aspx)?
I came up with:
"I'm sick and tired of other companies playing us like a fiddle"
or
"Our quarterly reports are in, looks like more of the same old song and dance"

Good for you Strangler! Onward!
I entered with this caption
Bringing in Elton John did little to lighten the mood at the quarterly stockholder's meeting.

Uh oh.
This was my entry.
I'll open the shareholders' meeting with "CEO Man" a la Billy Joel and close with "CEO Man" a la Elton John.
They say that they get a lot of entries on the same theme. If it weren't for the microphone I would have liked something about what a shame it was that the local symphony went under.
"Onward!" is actually how Howard Junker, the editor of Zyzzyva, would conclude his rejection letters.

If I were more confident in my abilities, I'd say great minds think alike! Nontheless, I'll continue to vote for you! My entry was simply a whim when I saw it. I have no expectations whatsoever.
