NPR has been doing a series on the post 9/11 political lexicon. I've caught a few of them and will end up listening to the enture series. I highly recommend giving this a listen. It's compelling stuff.

The entire series can be found here. (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=6406405)

They forgot the short-lived terms "Homicide bomber" and "Freedom Fries."
Some catch phrases just don't stick. It's like they're here one minute, and then - poof! Gone forever.

Like Charlton Heston's car keys.

I happened to catch the "War on Terrorism" one and was underwhelmed. Not so much because it wasn't thorough and accurate but because it didn't offer anything beyond what people were saying about the phrase four years ago.

But it is a good idea for a series and I'll try to remember to check out the others.
