Brilliant, as usual. Looks like it's going to be an awesome interface. This is still the beta version. I notice there's not zoom yet (they say it will just be a slider bar in the window). But just the ability to drag the map around is fantastic enough! And the directions are cool, click on a step and it pops up a little magnified window of the turn/onramp/interchange. Take that Mapquest!

Zoom is zoom-zoom-zooma-zooming for me. Unfortunately, you zoom too far in, and you lose context. But cool, nonetheless.

Hey, no fair. I don't have the zoom bar :( And when I search for a location, it doesn't show the little red pointy tag thing. Oh well, I discovered that the + and - keyboard shortucts work for zooming.

Interesting, I have the zoom bar as well. Maybe it is browser-specific. I'm on IE right now.

What a wonderful map tool!

I use Map Blast right now, but this program is wonderful!

Thank you GD!

I'm on IE too, a more recent version than you probably even have access to. Odd.

The zoom works just fine for me. Very cool!

Wow!

The company I work for makes map-based demographic software. We can appreciate the technology behind this kind of system. I just showed that to a couple cow-orkers and we were all flabbergasted at both the speed and quality of the mapping.

Good bye MapQuest.

Holy cow! This is too cool. (I'm using Firefox on OS X and it kicks butt)

its funny, because the technology isnt anything new, its actually mapping software that google acquired licensing for, rewrote some of the software with XML hacks and javascript hacks to make it render faster.

The BIG surprise with all of this, the zooming, and quickeness, can only be attributed to Google's servers and backbone being able to host the images so quickly and efficiently.

Yes, it's all in the interface and speed.

Much needed to compete with advances by Omniture, good call.
