Greetings hipsters. Hope you've all settled into our swanky new digs here. I know I just blew my top when I saw the mad groove you all have locked up. Tonight just after midnight is our 1 month anniversary, and we're having such a good time, that we're just frisking our whiskers hoping to see as many of you as we can at the park this weekend. I hear the last attempt was some kind of bust, so let's give it another go.

This Sunday, 4 PM at the Hub. If anyone laid their glims on the calander earlier, you may have seen noon as the time. But man, even with my cogs on, that mid-day light just doesn't seem quite swanky enough, dig? Besides, it's Valentine's Day weekend, so we think some folks might be up late into the black with their main queen and won't want to be around in that early bright ;)

So swing on by if you can.

:coffee:

Hmmmm. We will be at the park on Sunday, but maybe not that late. If we are still there, we will swing by for a quick hello.

If I make it to the park Sunday, I will definitely drop by. I've been such a lazy sack of bones lately -- barely make it out of the house on Sundays, let alone drive to the Park.

My swankometer has definitely dipped from all the winter hibernating....

Looks like GD's grip on the hip hasn't slipped.

This meet will put you in the spin - Teacups are supposed to be back, dig, and perhaps with a looser feel. We'll be the judge of that.

After our stomachs have settled, we can drink to our new digs. Hope to see you there!

It will take a bit of juggling, but we should be able to make it.

Matthew comes in on a train that afternoon and we are seeing if he can just take it to Anaheim instead. T'would make things much easier. (shame that Amtrak and the DLRR don't meet up anywhere. :))

How far is the train station from the park. Anyone know?

Ghoulish Delight
02-09-2005, 05:51 PM
It's in the parking lot for the Stadium, not far at all. About a 5 minute drive.

I could have sworn there was a shuttle of some sort - I recall a post long ago on another board where someone detialed a train based trip to the park - could that have been Lost Boy?

Kitten, you're much to swank for that - I appoint you (and up to 2 cohortrs of your choosing) to plan the East Coast edition at WDW.

Um... I've taken bus/subway/rail to Knott's/DL many times, but I usually catch the 460 bus from Downtown L.A.

You can also pick it up from Fullerton station, and the drop off at Disneyland is right at the resort (on the Harbor side)

It's 3:10pm out on Anaheim. I guess everyone that's going to the meet is well on their way. So where does that leave the rest of us? What are you doing?

I'm sitting here having not eaten a regular meal in three days, surrounded by the remains of two and a half boxes of tissues wadded up on the floor while watching such stimulating TV entertainment as "Donny Osmond presents America's National Parks" and "Celebrity Poker". I hate the flu.

I just can't wait to hear about all the fun you folks had at the meet.

Man oh man, I am SO loving this new swank version of the usual collection of Disney freaks 'n geeks.

GD and I cruised in a couple hours early. The place was jammed. Crazy lines for bag check, all rides had long lines, and the paths were full of people too. Insanity. We bumped into DustyTraveler and Monorail Man - we haven't seen them since the new board revolutions, so it was good to catch up. At 4, hung out at the hub and watched the swank roll in. We were joined by ubergeek, Name, CoasterMatt and his Monkey, Szczerbiak, Borneio, MickeyLumbo, MotorboatCruiser and Matthew, surprise guest Gemini Cricket ....and finally in comes the most swank of all, strolling down Main Street like the most fabulous hipsters DL has ever seen. € and NA, iSm and Zapp, dressed to the nines. There had to be at least one beret among us, oui? I didn't take many pics but I will post them later. Hope I didn't forget anyone in my list.

More later...

I have only a few pics of the actual noon meet, and none of what happened later. Here they are. (http://albums.photo.epson.com/j/AlbumIndex?u=4229529&a=31641175&pw=)

After going MST3K on the latest parade/celebration/cavalcade and a quick look at the castle, we got over to the teacups and gave 'em a whirl. I'll let the spinners state their cases on the status of the 'cups. I wasn't in a spinning mood. But it was fun.

We walked around the park at dusk, looked at the now functioning leaping fish and lack of a mine car, then went back to Tomorrowland and hopped a Monorail to DTD. We were dismayed to hear the wait at Tortilla Jo's, then realized that the outdoor cantina area was empty and hit that up instead. We got our very own corner all to ourselves. Somewhat removed from the rest of the place, we could be boisterous (oops I mean swanky) without bothering anyone else. We had dinner and drinks and relaxed. It was the most. :snap:

It was rather cold so afterwards we hid in the AP Lounge (err, Grand Cal Lobby) and had more drinks and talked even more. Loads of kick back fun. There was even a balcony scene...anything can happen at the DLR.

We traipsed back to the park and watched part of Fantasmic and rode Mansion. Gotta love Leota.

We left, and it felt early enough, but we really had stayed until closing. Some had left earlier but we didn't get to bed until midnight. *yawn*

All in all I'd say it was the perfect Lounge of Tomorrow day. A bit of Disney, a lot of lounging, some drinks, and some fantastic people. :snap:

If you weren't there, I hope you can make the next one!
